Trouble with R and cronjobs
I am having problems with trying to run R from a crontab job. I have a c-shell file that calls the R script. I get an error concerning the X11 display (see below). I have included the c-shell file and the output from the crontab job. It appears that my DISPLAY environmental variable is not set. Is that necessary, even when the output of the plot command is to a png file? Can someone tell me how to

Bar charts, frequencies known, intervals of varying width
...d mass are continuous ratio data to all intents and purposes. The data actually represents sieving of sand where $size is sieve aperture and where $mass is the amount remaining on the sieve. So if I sieve 100g of sand through increasingly fine sieves nothing remains on the coarsest sieve say 2500 microns. Between 2000 and 2500 microns there is 0.2g remining on the 2000micron sieve etc. as per the data supplied. size, mass 2500, 0 2000, 0.2 1700, 1.8 1400, 5 1000, 13 800, 40 600, 20 300, 15 180, 3 <180, 2 The data here I have made up for simplicity. In general sands tend to be distributed as lo...

rsync-2.5.0 patch for "make check" bug
Attached is a patch for rsync 2.5.0 to fix the "make check" option. The find command was not being passwd the current directory in the hands.test and longdir.test testsuites, which caused them to fail on SunOS 4.X and Solaris 2.X systems. Tom -- Tom L. [LLVMdev] Build/Install of LLVM without root access
I am using the source distribution, and the first puzzle is that it doesn't seem to match with the installation instructions from svn. E.g., svn talks about llvm, cfe, compiler-rt, etc; however, the source is in many differently named *.tar.gz files: clang-3.4.src.tar.gz libcxx-3.4.src.tar.gz polly-3.4.src.tar.gz clang-tools-extra-3.4.src.tar.gz lld-3.4.src.tar.gz

Everything starts fine (both in graphics and text modes), untl I get to the custom partition table. The new system will go on hda, with the boot and root partition reformatted (see below).
