On very different journalling activity on 2 servers.
...e is running RH7.2
The same processes & loads are on both machines - can anyone tell me why one
machine should have so much kjournald activity & the other not?
Is it a difference between 7.2 & 7.3 or must it be another factor?
How can I find out?

Why does old kernel boot when new kernel installed?
...root 19 Feb 6 09:27 System.map ->
System.map-2.4.7-10
Surely this should point to System.map-2.4.18-24.7.x
Can anyone suggest why GRUB is not showing all 3 kernels & why we are not
booting into the leatest?
Many thanks to all.

MORE: On very different journalling activity on 2 servers.
...eems that although the grub config file shows all 3 kernels & the
newest is the default - when the system reboots - only the oldest kernel
shows on the GRUB screen & only the oldest kernel boots!
What can we do to get the newest kernel to boot instead?

kjournald using up majority cpu%.
...- virtually continuously. Free cpu% generally less than 25%
now!
Both machines are also using software RAID5 EIDE ....... otherwise are
standard server installs.
Any info on what kjournald is & why it should have recently become so active
would be gratefully received.
