Alarming (?) smartd reports
I decided, after the last discussion of smartd and S.M.A.R.T. disks,

Oddity with kernel built under CentOS 5.0
...:58:28 localhost modprobe: FATAL: Could not load

The kernel rpm is this:
-rw-r--r-- 1 mhr users 15318350 May 29 03:34
kernel-2.6.18-8.1.4.el5.nx.x86_64.rpm
and the running version is this:

2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I got around this by creating a symlink:
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 May 29 08:31 2.6.18-8.1.4.el5.nx/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 May 29 10:56 2.6.18-8.1.4.el5.nx.nx ->

This is what nvidia-settings gave me on the terminal window before it

Video on (video-capable digital) still camera not accessible
...ed for it. Now, this is not entirely unusual.
I know there's a .mov on the camera, two actually, so I tried putting
the SD card in a card reader and plugged that in. Nothing. No "disk"
was mounted, which is what normally happens when I do that. I ran
lsusb, and got this:

Things that fail over time (was Automounter (?) failing in CentOS 5.3)
I'm starting a new thread on this because there are other failures I'd
like to bring up, not _necessarily_ directly related to CentOS, but
they all happen to me here.
FTR:
Linux mhrichter 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5 #1 SMP Thu May 7 10:35:59 EDT 2009
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
(AMD 64x2 7750, 2.7GHz, 2GB memory, 900+GB disk, etc.)
I had a meeting to go to last night, so before I left, I rebooted.
When I returned, as I expected, my USB flash drives were all properly
recognized (i.e., th...
