hi gang! I'm interested in setting up incoming PPP on a system at work that has a fresh (not upgrade) Centos 4.4 on it. All the documentation I've found for that shows using mgetty to do it, and seems pretty straightforward. However, that machine doesn't have a binary named mgetty anywhere. It does have a mgetty-sendfax RPM installed, but it does not provide a binary named mgetty. "yum -list available | grep -y getty" shows no additional packages I could use...

...there are 7 or 8 in use. So we want to replace it with an E1 card. Only issue is, replace it with what? The idea we have been playing with was to get a Digium E1 card (we already have bought lot of Quad E1 cards :-) and then just put it back to back against Asterisk server. And instead of letting mgetty+sendfax talk to /dev/ttyI[0-7], we use /dev/zap/[0-30]. Has anybody else ever tried this? Success- and horror stories are welcome! I can print to Samba printers from Windows with no problems, and I can use the faxspool command to send postscript files as faxes from a Linux box.
