need help with avg.surv (Direct Adjusted Survival Curve)
Hello R users,
I am trying to obtain a direct adjusted survival curve. I am sending my whole code (see below). It's basically the larynx cancer data with Stage 1-4. I am using the cox model using coxph option, see the fit3 coxph. When I use the avg.surv option on fit3, I get the following error: "fits<-avg.surv(fit3, var.name="stage.fac", var.values=c(1,2,3,4), data=larynx)

need help with avg.surv (Direct Adjusted Survival Curve), Message-ID:
Well, I would suggest using the code already in place in the survival
package. Here is my code for your problem.
I'm using a copy of the larynx data as found from the web resources for
the Klein and Moeschberger book.
larynx <- read.table("larynx.dat", skip=12,
col.names=c("stage", "time", "age", "year",

Levels attribute in integer columns created by model.frame()
The following is evidence of what is surely an undesirable feature.
The issue is the handling, in calls to model.frame(), of an
explanatory variable that has been derived as an unclassed
factor. (Ross Darnell drew this to my attention.)

Background thread - entension code - switch contexts
Hi,
I am using wxRuby 1.9.7 and Ruby 1.8.6. I have built an extension in C++
and used swig to load it into Ruby interpreter, which works great. The
extension is an often long executing algorithm, and I''ve noticed that if
I fork a new Ruby thread in button clicked event, and in this thread run
the algorithm the application freezes for the time of execution. I have
looked through the

cbind formula definition
Hi there,
I have the following problem:
I have a package called "polLCA" which has the following syntax:
poLCA(formula, data)
and needs the following formula definition:
formula <- cbind(V1,V2,V3,...)
So far so good.
What I tried now was the following:
#Get "data" with the "read.table" fuction
data <- read.table("d:/ .....)
#Select cols to use in the

model frame and formula mismatch with latent class analysis poLCA
Dear R-users,
I keep getting an ERROR saying " Error in model.matrix.default(formula,
mframe) : model frame and formula mismatch in model.matrix() " when i fit
poLCA with more than 63 variables. Below are the details.
I am trying to do a Latent Class Analysis using poLCA. My data set contains
binary scores of, for instance, 200 students on 100 items. These numbers

Build Clang/LLVM for AVR
Hi everyone,
I've been wondering how to correctly build clang/LLVM for the AVR target architecture. Unfortunately documentation is very scarce (or outdated or I didn't find it) and while I've been able to build clang/LLVM for AVR I'm still falling short of compiling an actual binary for the MCU. Here are the steps I've undertaken so far:

Build Clang/LLVM for AVR
Thank you for both of your input. Yes, I try to cross-compile for AVR, the simple ATMEGA328P used in every Arduino Uno. My main motivation being that I hope to be able to use a couple of STL containers, <functional> and <type_traits> on the MCU. Not sure though if this can be reached by going via the clang route.
Getting back to the compilation: when I run clang with both both

pointer arithmetic with address space attribute not working
Hi,
I have a case that for pointer with address space attribute, pointer
arithmetic is not work.
For example,
-bash-4.4$ cat test.c
#define __user __attribute__((address_space(1)))
void __user * test(void __user *arg) {
#ifdef ADD
return arg + 4;
#else
return arg;
#endif
}
-bash-4.4$
-bash-4.4$ clang -g -c test.c
-bash-4.4$ clang -g -c -DADD test.c

rj packages and eclipse
Hi everyone!
Does anyone know how to install the rj package in Windows (7)? I am
trying to set up eclipse, but I got [INFO] The R package 'rj' is not
available, R-StatET tools cannot be initialized.
Thank you in advance!

Debugging LowerTypeTests in LLVM Using GDB
Hi,
I am looking into Control-Flow Integrity for indirect function calls,
implemented with jump tables. I want to step through the code that produces
these jump tables in GDB. I have built clang and opt from source with
debugging symbols. I believe this code lives in
llvm/lib/Transforms/LowerTypeTests.cpp, but when I try to debug *opt* by
running the command "run -lowertypetests cfi-icall.bc

How to use mainline clang/llvm with CMake
Dear all, I am not sure whether this is a right place to ask basic questions about usage of CLang/LLVM, but also not sure if there is any other mailing list for such.
Kindly point me to such a list in such case.
I had built mainline CLang/LLVM on OSX and tried to use it with CMake. I had override following variables in CMake:

pointer arithmetic with address space attribute not working
Thanks for the detailed info!
The problem was that I tried without assertions and didn't inspect the IR closely as it contained this,
for now, illegal instruction: %6 = bitcast i8* %5 to i8 addrspace(1)*
This is clearly a clang error.
I suggest opening a bug report, or sending the reproducer to cfe-dev at llvm.lists.org so someone will take a look that has more clang experience.

Good work! That was very quick ;-)

C++ JIT Compiler with LLVM on Windows 10 - part 5
I was just reading the blog post -- very cool!
Regarding Globals construction & destruction: There definitely has been a
lot of churn in that area. There will probably be more before LLVM 11 is
released, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I think the Right
Way to run initializers in a JITDylib is to treat it as equivalent to a
dlopen operation (with extra allowances for the fact
