Non-domain MFPs cannot access server
I have a Samba 3.4.7 server with ADS authentication. Windows clients
have no issues, but non-domain MFPs cannot access shares, even with
guest ok = yes.
The MFPs can scan to a Samba 3.2.7 server, configured with Openfiler.
This line is the same on both servers
Got user=[printers] domain=[] workstation=[RNPE96472] len1=24 len2=24
This is what comes next on the working, 3.2.7 server:

Set write permission for an user into a specific LDAP field...
I need to have an AD user that need to *write* in an users LDAP field.
The user case is a MFP (a set of MFP, indeed) that have RFID auth, and
so need to 'register' the RFID cards.
Seems to me that i have to use dsacl/samba-tool acl ds, but i don't
found a way to set the property for every user.
EG, assign write permission to user 'mfp' to field 'pager' for every

The system works with direct LDAP access via some credential; if i
temporary put the credential of an administrator, the MFPs write
correctly in LDAP the ID of the card.
So, MFPs side, the system seems to work.

windows 7 64 bit xerox print drivers
...ntu 10.04
Has anyone out there got Xerox 64 bit drivers working in a point and print
samba set up? And if so, which Xerox drivers? And which method of driver
installation?
I'm at a complete loss. We currently have an environment with 500 + desktops
and a couple dozen Xerox workgroup docucolor MFPs that are running fine now
with XP clients and a Samba print server. We're moving to Win 7 64 bit
clients over the next couple of months and this is going to be a huge
stumbling block.
Several months ago I posted a problem I was having installing 64 bit Xerox
drivers into a shared samba queue....

Scan to email
...eculate but I have been asked to setup an MFP such that when you
scan to email, it hits a postfix instance which rewrites the email (so it can be
typed short) and sends it on to our email-fax service. It seemed simple, so long
as I get an MFP that supports emailing from its console as all the cheap mfps's I
know of require some lame app that usually only runs on windows.
It all seems simple enough, pending I get the appropriate mfp? Anyone done this
with an Ethernet based unit that can share an opinion? The postfix rewriting part
seems simple enough!
Thanks!

HP L7780 support in hplip 1.6.7???
Alle,
I have an HP L7780 MFP, which is supported under hplip 1.7.2 but not the
current install of 1.6.7. Does anyone know of a way just to add that
particular driver to 1.6.7, or will it require removing the standard
1.6.7 and doing a custom install of 1.7.2. If the latter, what would you
consider the dangers/other implications of going "rogue"?
Best Regards,
Camron
