R/S-related projects on Sourceforge? Trove Categorization
Hi R-Users and Developers,
Several months ago I made a request on Sourceforge to add the R/S -
programming language to the _Trove_ categorization. ("The Trove is a
means to convey basic metainformation about your project.")
Today I got the following response of one of the sourceforge admins.
<SNIP>
SourceForge.net will consider the inclusion of a programming
language within the Trove system when we host at least 5
projects based on that language. Please advise: Do you know

performance suggestion: sparse files
...do
one big seek to the next non-sparse block. ("bode its time"? Who writes
like that?)
Of course, it never survived to see that moment; a cruel SIGINT arrived
and dispatched both rsyncs.
It seems like the right thing would be for the local end to skim past the
zero blocks and send some metainformation, to avoid encrypting and
transferring many GB of zeros.
I worked around the problem by adding -z to compress the stream first
(blocks of zeros compress remarkably well), and that made the virtual disk
image transfer go much faster. Of course, all of the .tgzs and .tbzs in
the same transfer go...

[LLVMdev] Bazaar mirror?
Anyone has a bzr mirror for sharing? There is one at Launchpad, but it
goes only a few months back and lacks svn metainformation.
I need at least 14 months of history and update it directly from llvm's
svn.

Thoughts on webgen 0.5.0
...content processor has slightly been updated. It allows now
to specify a body that can be processed. So it is possible to wrap
some source code in a (to be written) highlight tag and it gets
highlighted.
* Implemented tags:
- Reloctable
- Metainfo (the default tag which provides access to metainformation)
- Menu
The main webgen command is not very sophisticated, it just can build a
website. But partial site generation works throughout the entire
codebase.
Everything is unit tested and current code coverage is around 92%.
Anyone looking at the source code should find it easy to follow (at
l...

Cannot install XML package with R 3.0 and Ubuntu 12.04
Hi,
I am unable to install the R package XML using R 3.0.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
(64-bit). After the installation failed using install.packages, I followed
previous directions for installing R packages on Ubuntu
(R-SIG-Debian<http://grokbase.com/t/r/r-sig-debian/127nwwez27/package-xml-does-not-load-in-r-2-15-1>,

git workflow, redux

Absolutely.

I'm not sure what you mean. The metainformation which would
previously go into the patch description, now goes into the commit
message.

Certainly not - quite the opposite....

[LLVMdev] An alternate implementation of exceptions
Hi Duncan,
I agree on the problem about linking with code - I actually do mention
this in the paper. I propose adding a new calling convention called
"excall".
The central point of my paper is that only one parameter is needed as the
return value (because of the use of the flag): the EAX register can safely
be used for both the exception instance and the return value as these

RFC on first public draft of 'Debian R Policy'
...efly along with an example
from the Debian r-cran-car package of the car CRAN package. To illustrate an
architecture-dependent package, we will also show one file from the
r-cran-rodbc package.
3.2.1 debian/control
3.2.1.1 debian/control for an architecture-independent package
This file contains metainformation about the package and is similar in
spirit to the DESCRIPTION file of a R package. The control file typically
contains two sections.
The first section provides the name of the source package (i.e. name of the
upstream tarball stripped of its version numbers) as well as the maintainer
name a...

git workflow, redux
Summary:
I have tried the packaging-only repo and I really don't like it at
all. I don't know how anyone copes with this - such hard work!
IMO we should switch to git-debrebase. (As an alternative, if
you don't trust git-debrebase because it's my own tool, gbp pq
would be better, too, even though it's not as good as git-debrebase.)
Particularly, now that we have more people
