metaflac --no-utf8-convert complains about UTF

Some confusion seems to be creeping in, here. Jan's problem, as I understand it, is with the METADATA_BLOCK_VORBIS_COMMENT in a Native FLAC file. (No OggFLAC, Ogg being the container, and no Vorbis, a lossy codec.) METADATA_BLOCK_VORBIS_COMMENT is defined at: https://xiph.org/flac/format.html#metadata_block_vorbis_comment and VorbisComments at: http://www.xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html Note that a VorbisCom...

metaflac --no-utf8-convert complains about UTF
This is 1.3.1 on OpenBSD/amd64. The --no-utf8-convert option of metaflac(1) does not work for me: $ metaflac --no-utf8-convert --set-tag="Artist=?ou?l??ek" aladin.flac aladin.flac: ERROR: tag value for 'Artist' is not valid UTF-8 (You probably can't see the Czech letters properly in my mail, but that's beside the point.) Indeed, it is not valid UTF8 (it's LATIN2),

WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE_CHANNEL_MASK is not described
...XTENSIBLE_CHANNEL_MASK vorbis comment is described also needs to be stated . It needs be described somewhere because it is not obvious how a single 32-bit word should be stuffed into "a short text comment". The Vorbis comment could be described in the FLAC spec under FRAME_HEADER, under METADATA_BLOCK_VORBIS_COMMENT or in a new section in the general spiel near the top. I would suggest in the general spiel. (At the moment, the METADATA section does little more than point to the Ogg Vorbis I format specification; the detail of this particular Vorbis comment should not be in the Vorbis spec.) Your proposed wording was: 0000-0111 : (number of independent channels)-1. The channel order follows SMPTE/ITU-R recommendations. The assignments are as follows: The

Cover art
Hello to the people reading this list! I am developing tagging support for ogg vorbis in Nero products and we are currently thinking of supporting cover art in ogg files. What is the current state of proposal for cover art in ogg files? Is this http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/VorbisComment#Cover_art still the latest information? Regards, Goran -------------- next part -------------- An HTML
