Upgrading to new versions of R.
...it
possible to source/input this workspace from the previous version of R into
the new updated version, so I don't lose anything? And if so, where could I
locate the workspace amoungst the files on my computer?

Reading Excel files from within R.
...m . I would prefer to read Excel into
R, not use R in Excel!
I am sure this cannot be an uncommon thing to want to do (given that Excel
is a popular programme), although I have not had much success searching in
the CRAN archives for information. Any comments would be appreciated.

Julian dates
I am using the "chron" package. Can anyone tell me if there is a simple way
to convert a date object (obtained from the "dates" function) into a julian
date (using the "julian" function)?
