force user not working
Hello. I am making a new samba server. My old samba server was a RedHat machine (6.2) with samba 2.0.7 on it. My new samba server is a Gentoo machine with Samba 3.0.2a. Aside from the fact that I am now using ADS instead of a traditional NT4 domain -- everything else is the same. I am keeping all the shares the same, I have synced all the gid's and uid's between the two machines,

auth audit log question
...v4:1.2.3.30:62828] became [WRKGRP]\[P002556$] [S-1-5-21-90834550-981288634-869225949-132733]. local host [NULL] First NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD, immediately followed by NT_STATUS_OK for the same workstation. We can domain-logon onto the workstation, I can open AD shares including \\samba-dc2, \\member_server, etc. All without problem. So the domain password / join appears to be correct. P002556$@SAMBA.COMPANY.COM is running windows server 2008 Enterprise, SP2. Could anyone think of other reasons why the above error could come up on the DC logs? MJ

Winbindd Strangeness
...smbd and winbindd. I've followed the wiki and for the most part it's working. However, after stuffing up the ranges, then fixing them up, when I create new accounts, adding all the Unix attributes, the UID_Number is not showing the correct value for new accounts. Existing ones are okay. SOLVED: WINBIND: UID and GID false mappings on domain member
...in preserving the old UID and GID. 2. (question = why?) And login.bat was called at login time _only_ after moving the [netlogon] share from the domain member to the ad-dc. Why on earth it could not be called from the file server remains a mystery to me. The LDAP field scriptPath was configured: \\member_server\netlogon\login.bat. 3. To bind the homeDrive I had to put a colon (:) after the drive letter. 4. (question = how changing/correct surname, givenName?) wbinfo output is slightly different on ad-dc and domain member with regard to the Geckos On the ad-dc: HUMGEN\test:*:9439:5000: WT.
