Heteroscedasticity Plots
To detect heteroscedasticity for a multiple linear OLS regression (no time dependencies): What if the residuals vs. fitted values plot shows well behaved residuals (cloud) - but the some of the x versus residuals plots are a megaphone? Also, it seems that textbooks and internet tutorials in R do not agree what is the best plot for detecting heteroscedasticity. What do you use? I found so far: - Y vs X - Res vs X - Res vs Fitted Y - Partial regression plot and lots of standardized/studentized/partial plots. Thank you v...

CRAN binary, but no source
Hi All, this is a CRAN question, so I am sorry if this is not the appropriate forum. I noticed that there is at least one CRAN package that has a binary (OSX Mavericks) for a version, that does not have any source package on CRAN. Or at least I am unable to locate it. The package is Rglpk: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/Rglpk/index.html It offers a binary for 0.5-2, but there is no

Digium launches flying phone-phone
...ying android desk phone. The new handset includes a small low noise helicopter to assist in call transfers. The device has speech and gesture recognition, so when you don't want to take a call you can either wave it away or say ("Kevin will answer that"). The flying handset has a megaphone and boom mic for priority call mode where it hovers just out of swatting range so you can't avoid the call. "People wonder why we are doing this, but hey, I figured I'd try and combine as many my interests into one project and half the rest of the management are pilots too so it seem...

F77_CALL/NAME problem
Dear R-devel, I am trying to use Fortran DGESV subroutine into C. Here it is the relevant part of the C file I am currently writing #include<stdio.h> #include<R.h> #include<Rmath.h> #include<math.h> void F77_NAME(DGESV)( int*, int*, double*, int*, int*, double*, int*, int*); void solve( int *p, double *A, double *Ainv) { ... glm or transformation of the response?
Dear all, For an introductory course on glm?s I would like to create an example to show the difference between glm and transformation of the response. For this, I tried to create a dataset where the variance increases with the mean (as is the case in many ecological datasets): poissondata=data.frame( response=rpois(40,1:40), explanatory=1:40) attach(poissondata) However, I have run into
