Promoting Samba BDC to PDC
Hi All,
Has any one got an idea of how to make clients automatically
find the BDC when the PDC is stopped. Both PDC and BDC are running by
Samba authenticating again a LDAPSAM backend replicated on both the PDC
with master LDAP database and BDC with replicated LDAP database. But
when I stop PDC the clients are not detecting the BDC broadcast. I can
see that the replication is of

I don't understand what the purpose is, or more precisely what it is
this accomplishes. Could someone explain it to me?
I'm making good progress, but still hashing things out.
TIA

PDC for Multiple Domains from a Single Samba Box
...ines. I have
a single Linux server running Suse 9.2. I would like for this server to be
able to act as the PDC for N domains. I am using ldap as the password/
account back end running on the same box. I'm also running dhcpd and DNS on
this box.
I followed the Samba-How-To to setup 'MEGANET2' and have several of the
windows boxes participating in that domain with what appears to be success
(thanks to the writer). I then, based on what I could find doing google
searches, created an additional ip address (alias) and an additional smb.conf
file specifying to bind to the aliased i...

Windows 2003 Active Directory and Group Access
Hi together,
we have a Windows 2003 Active Directory Server, working together with Samba Version 3.0.2a-Debian. It seems
everything (Kerberos authentication and so on) works fine. All the authentication is done by the windows 2003
server. My problem is, that I can't connect to a share via a windows xp client, when the share has an option
"valid user" which defines a group of the

net rpc join fails the first time but succeeds the second
Hi.
I'm having some trouble when trying to join a SAMBA machine, acting as
a member server, to a NT-style domain server managed by a SAMBA PDC
using an LDAP back-end. Both machines are running samba-3.0.10-1.4E.6
on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.1 Update 3 for AMD64.
When trying to add the member server to the domain, it fails with an
error message. However, if I try to add it again, the
