group membership inconsistency on AD domain member
Hi, I've been running a samba server with winbind (CentOS 7) as a member of an AD Domain (Windows 2012 R2) for several months without a problem. "Suddenly" I'm seeing the problem that the membership in newly created AD groups isn't correctly visible for some users on the samba server or only after some indefinite amount of time. I'm looking simply at the output of

net ads keytab add has no visible effects
Hi! I think I ran into the same Problem. What I tried so far: 1) * Adopt SPNs on the DC with samba-tool spn * Create keytab on Member with net ads keytab create * Result: ** klist and net ads keytab list on Member match ** samba-tool spn list on DC doesn't 2) * Clear SPNs from Member via net ads keytab flush * Result: ** net ads keytab list on Member is empty ** samba-tool spn list on DC

Windows ACL behaviour in standalone fileservers (LDAP vs TDB)
Hi, I'm building and managing standalone fileservers (security = user) with various passdb backends. I'm noticing different behaviour of Windows ACLs for servers with LDAP and TDB passdb backends. In a LDAP backed server (which I started with) I can freely add filesystem permissions (eg for groups) to objects (files/folders) via the Windows (7) permissions editor. In a TDB backed

"ea support = yes" and "map acl inherit = yes"
Hi, I'm running Samba 4.8 servers with Windows ACL enabled shares (following https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs). This manual demands to set map acl inherit = yes store dos attributes = yes and requires extended attribute support from the share file system. So far, so good. Now I shall upgrade to CentOS 7.7 which brings Samba 4.9 which changes

errors during samba_dnsupdate, another case
Hi, I installed my first Samba 4.12 AD with packages from https://www.sernet.de/ on CentOS 8. Everything seems to work OK, including DNS records being created for members that join the domain. Reading https://wiki.samba.org I came across https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Testing_Dynamic_DNS_Updates. When I execute "samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names" on the DC I'm seeing the
