Cannot get CentOS to install
I used google but did not come up with anything current to solve my problem.
I have not tried any other search engines yet.
There is not a search for the CentOS list so I am creating a new post.
I have tested the CentOS 5.2 and RHEL 5.3 CD's and they passed.
I had to use linux mediacheck ide=nodma to get them to pass.
The newest releases seem to most times fail with just linux mediacheck.

New to Centos, and linux in general
I've installed DSL linux -- no problem
My expertise is in the HP3000 (non windows, non unix) environment.
When I boot from Centos CD#1 I get a Panic error..... I'm thinking
hardware is the issue so I try a different machine, same thing.
I've tried 'linux rescue', 'linux mem=256' still the same error, which
is mostly unreadable to me because most all the messages roll

Isolinux disk error 20; AX=4280, drive EF
I thought I'd be clever and buy a DVD for 5.2 from LinuxOnline.biz.
Well, just got around to trying it with the above results. Does the
error mean I have a 'bad' DVD disk image? Please advise. Thanks.

New to the list and one quick question
Hi all,
Let me start off with a little back ground. I am running right now RH9
fully updated on a Dell PowerEdge 1600SC with 512megs of Ram, 18G SCSI
HD. I run this at home so this is no critical server, unless you ask my
girls when I have it down, I have been debating on upgrading to Fedora
until I started looking at CentOS. I have download the ISO and burned
them with X-CD-Roast. Here

can not install CentOS as VM in KVM
Hi to all,
I am trying to install CentOS 5.5 as VM on a KVM server running Ubuntu
10.04. The Problem: the installer does not find the iso image. (Direct
copy from website downlod.) I can start CentOS from the iso and can even
do some disk checks. But when I go further the installer says "no CDROm
found". Pretty weird. I tried all CentOS 5.5. image available (Live CD,

CentOS5 consistent media check failures 2 - 6.
Folks,
As much as I hate to, I feel I need to post my long story and ask help.
Shortly after the release announcement, I kicked off rtorrent and
downloaded the CD and DVD images. Since my cable provider does my
"throttling", I disabled throttling and shared for several days,
"returning" several GBs at no objectionable loss I could discern.
While that was going on, I used

disable media check on custom cd [dnk]
On a previous thread I was working on a custom install disk that would boot directly
into a vnc install - well I have the disk working exactly as I need it EXCEPT for 1
thing... the option to do a media check pops up... however as per my original email -
there will be no keyboard/mouse/monitor attached during install... so I can not press
the "skip" option. Now to get the VNC install to

Unknown keyword in syslinux.cfg
Using versions 3.53 and 3.54, I get that message with the following
configuration file (which is under 8192 bytes) on a USB stick; it's the
configuration file from PCLinuxOS 2007. It was originally named
isolinux.cfg; I changed isolinux.* to syslinux* for booting from USB.
There is no blank line at the end of the file.
It works well with 3.11, but that version doesn't allow me to put all

I just download CENTOS 5.4 DVD ISO X86_64 version from internet. I tried to install it on DELL server and get following error message before RPM start install:

anyone know why?
Should I download it again from any good site?
If I install CENTOS 5.3 and use yum update, will it go to CENTOS 5.4?
Thanks.

problem installing CentOS 5.3
I have a small fixed ip network at home, running red hat 9 on two
amd k6 500 Mhz boxes. One has 256 M memory and the other 320 M. They
pretty much meet my needs, but lately I have detected that the internet
sites
I frequent are requiring some more modern software than I can run. I
attempted to install
Fedora 8, but that failed on the AMD processors. So I ordered a set of

kickstart error on 5.2 exception
Hi,
I am trying to get my kickstart file that worked under 5.1 to work under 5.2 centos x86_64.
This is the error that I get.
On the screen it says Exception occured and gives me the option to save it. This is that file.
I dont see any odd that would cause it to crash.
Can anyone help. My kickstart file is in the mix below.
Seems to be related to network, my line seems fine (I think) for
