Echo Issues
Hi all,
We have just installed a * server (CVS head) with a TE110P card and a
IDSN20 line, we are using the GXP-2000 handsets running the latest
firmware (.9).
Some of the calls we are receiving have echo at the our end (we can hear
ourselves speak).
We have a traditional ISDN telephone system here as well and when I make
a call from one of the handsets asterisk answers, directs the call to

Tweaking AGGRESSIVE_SUPPRESSOR
...ed ztmonitor. What happens is I experience
midcall echo. I turned on aggressive_suppressor and it seems to do
great. The problem happens with misc. noise around the office will
cause it to mute the other end of a phone call while they are talking.
I haven't been able to find anywhere in the MEC2 source to limit when it
mutes the remote party. It seems to do it with just the slightest bit
of sound coming from the room. What are my options besides getting mad
and ordering a PRI and a TE100?

Help! Zap echo on bridged calls
I've been going nuts lately trying to get rid of an annoying echo
problem that makes my asterisk server unusable when clients try to call me.
Here's the breakdown of the issue - Hoping that someone can throw me a
clue:
My setup is as such:
Single AMD Athon machine with X100P clone card and voip through multiple
providers .
* Inbound calls through the X100P that do not bridge to

echo cancellation on an iax2 channel
I have minor echo on an IAX2 channel when using Firefly and a head
set. I have tried various headsets and settings but still a little bit
of the echo remains and I'd love to get rid of it. After some research
I stubled on zaptel/mec2.h but it seem that it works only on the ZAP
channel. Is there something I can do on the IAX2 channel?

I4l outgoing dtmf problem.
Hi.
I'm working with i4l with asterisk CVS-02/21/03-13:59:12,
plus i4l (chan modem i4l *dsp patched* and kernel 2.4.19
patched to disable dtmf).
All seems ok (apart some echo issues that seems gone
with mec2 aggressive suppressor), but outgoing dtmf
doesn't work . or at least I hear the very first part
of the dtmf, but then it seems suppressed.
here's my modem.conf

mec3 experiment
...by the mic in phone 1
By the second ring the echocan thinks it's figured things out, but the
ringtone on phone 1 suddenly changes to a different sound.
Asterisk box is now completely locked up and the phones continue to ring
regardless of whether they are answered of hungup.
Same scenario with mec2 and all is well with the world. Looks like I
won't be using mec3 anytime soon. Is anyone else able to confirm this
issue with mec3?

Re: Incoming echo cancel
...iders facilities (eg. variations in level padding: http://yarchive.net/phone/digital_pads.html)
Of all of these, I remain convinced that in most cases the real issue is something like the last. Namely that subtle differences between facilities are interfering with the assumptions the mathmatics in mec2 use - it's a very rigid model and makes use a number of fixed assumptions about average signal levels, offsets and so on.

How to 'read' ztmonitor and set gains
Being one the many people trying to track down echo 'ghosts' I ran across
this page:
http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-November/071301.html
suggesting ways to adjust the gain. I have a TDM400P 2x2 config with
Kewlstart lines configured. I've located a local telco milliwatt test line,
and when I call it, the gain numbers are no where near 14844. Now, this

Tellabs Echo Canceller
I am getting ready to experiment with the Tellabs 2752 echo canceller. I have a 255D shelf (and power supply), but am struggling a little on connecting the echo canceller to a PRI.
The shelf has 4 25-pair amphenol connectors. The two on the line side are marked "Receive In" and "Send Out". The 2 connectors on the drop side are marked "Send In" and "Receive

PRI echo issues: solvable?
Hello,
After solving the other "low hanging fruit" audio issues in our Asterisk
PBX, we are left with occasional cases of severe echo which we have not
found a solution for yet.
Our system:
- Asterisk 1.2.0-beta1
- TE110P on a PRI
- TDM04 and TDM40, but these are unrelated to current echo issues
- Fedora core 3
- Echo canceller KB1
Most calls have minimal, acceptable echo levels. But
