Access 97 on Wine 20041019
...roup database, but the install completes fine anyway. When I navigate to Access's folder and type "wine MSACCESS.EXE", the splash screen comes up just fine, then a second later, I get an error dialogue box: Microsoft Access couldn't find the file "C:\windows\system\system.mdw". This file is required for startup. Doing a bit of reasearch, I learnt that this file has something to do with Access's workgroup (tee hee) functions. I tried touching the file and setting it to 777, also tried copying system.mdw from a "real" Windows machine, but both of t...

Locking Problems with Samba 2.2.7
I have a new Dell server running Red Hat 8.0 Linux. I just downloaded and installed Samba 2.2.7 from the Red Hat Web site. I am having trouble with Microsoft Access 2000 data base locking. The program runs in a runtime version (.mde)on each client. Only the database(.mdb), the permissions file(.mdw) and the lock file (.ldb) are resident on the server running Samba. Each computer can individually access the share and open and run the database. The program in question is set up for multiple users. It runs fine on a Windows peer-peer network but won't allow multiple users from the server. A...

dns.keytab
Hi guys I setup my samba4 server with provision. (pdc1) Then I setup a DC using net vampire after rolling back to commit 62e0a74 to bypass mdw updates that broke net vampire. (pdc2) I had to manually add to the zone in pdc1 the follwoing records to get replication to work: I made all the modifications in named.txt to bind pdc2 IN A 192.168.48.236 <PDC2-GUID>._msdsc IN CNAME pdc2 scp the dns.keytab file from pdc1 to pdc2...

What kind of system works best?
If any of you recall, I sent a message before regarding issues with a 100 client-based Samba server. After speaking with the company I'm working with and showing them some of the replies, they are enthusiastic about the system, and we're all looking forward to seeing it working. Thank you for all your replies and for your help. There were quite a few replies, and I can't get a

userAccountControl can't be set to 0x800002 (8388610, UF_ACCOUNTDISABLED | UF_PASSWORDEXPIRED):"samldb: Unrecognized account type"
We have a third party mail system which can write/read accounts to/from AD using ldaps protocol, it works fine with active directory of windows server 2003. When I test the mail system with samba4 DC, I can't disable user from the mail system, because the mail system write 0x800002 (8388610,UF_ACCOUNTDISABLED | UF_PASSWORDEXPIRED) to userAccountControl field of AD/samba4, and samldb returns
