mdmonitor not triggering program on fail events
Hi, Can anyone help me with this since I want to get it done "the correct way" I'm trying to make mdmonitor to execute a program when it detects a fail event automatically. Currently, from what I see, init is calling mdmonitor with these options mdadm --monitor --scan -f (note that the --program is not there) and this is in my /etc/mdadm.conf MAILADDR root PROGRAM /root/program_2_run.sh short of ha...

CentOS 7 contains these md related units: /usr/lib/systemd/system/mdadm-grow-continue at .service /usr/lib/systemd/system/mdadm-last-resort at .service /usr/lib/...

The package mdadm installs these files: /usr/lib/systemd/system/mdadm.service /usr/lib/systemd/system/mdmonitor-takeover.service /usr/lib/systemd/system/mdmonitor.service Perhaps if you turn off these services, you'll be able to manage your disks without interference. I do not use mdadm on my system, I'm just looking at the content of the rpm file on rpmfind.net. That said, systemd isn't the c...

mdraid strange surprises...
Hey, I installed 2 new data servers with a big (12TB) RAID6 mdraid. I formated the whole arrays with bad blocks checks. One server is moderately used (nfs on one md), while the other not. One week later, after the raid-check from cron, I get on both servers a few block_mismatch... 1976162368 on the used one and a tiny bit less on the other...? That seems a tiny little bit high... centos on 64M 350Mhz pentimum II
All, I have an old computer 64M 350Mhz pentium II. centos os 4.1 installs on it fine. however on boot it says low memory and it kills certain processes. httpd or sendmail. I have a 2GIG swap and I did a chkconfig XXX off on a few things like xfs, nfs, httpd, kudzu. My old 2.4 kernel used to run in 4M with a swap... I had recompiled the kernel (took a while) to enable the cyclades module. Any

Some RAID-6 observations ... RHEL-6 vs CentOS-5.5
...est single array is just over 2 TBytes of useable space. There are two groups of 5+1 drives spread across two SAS/SATA controller cards, and this random behaviour can occur on either one. Rebooting gets me a different set of missing hot spare partitions. The only error messages I get are the mdmonitor "missing spares event" emails ... nothing in dmesg. The host OS has its own RAID-1 (+ hot spare) arrays on a separate set of disks and controller, and those arrays always come up correctly. I've checked and double ckecked the mdadm.conf file to make sure the ARRAY, DEVICE and ...

mdadm --readonly which device in halt?
Setting up nut on a system where an LVM volume holds the root filesystem.. What is the appropriate device form to use with "mdadm --readonly" in halt? This is on a CentOS 5 system. So far I have found three possibilities, but I do not know which one (if any) will still be valid that late in the halt procedure: 1. /dev/md0 (from posts on the net) 2.

PXE boot, Kickstart NFS install and %include...
I was just wondering how (or indeed if) people use the %include directive in Kickstart configuration files when building systems via NFS. I've been trying to modularise our Kickstart files a little to make things more readable, having generic defaults and role specific stuff split out into separate configs. I've tried this configuration... [root at archive kickstart]# cat

Not Quite Minimal CentOS 6.2
Hi All, I a working on configuring a not-quite minimal installation of CentOS 6.2. I tried doing the "minimal" installation available with the installer, but it's a bit too minimal to be useful. So I'm cutting down from a less minimal starting place. I'm pretty familiar with 5.x, but what I'm finding in 6.2 is a lot of new stuff, and a lot of odd behavior. For example,
