M3F: Multimedia Metadata Format
...nal definition of what the format does, but it is
a start. Please do send any definition suggestions or thoughts to the email
list so that we all may better understand what will be required by the
format.
Regarding the poor naming for my proposal:
I just though up a name for the XML format; and MDMF was the best I could
come up with at 5am. I think no one will oppose changing the name to my new
suggestion (right below). Though someone might be better at naming stuff.
M3F, or the Multimedia Metadata Format.
Thoughts?

metadata on the wiki
So wiki discussion on the new metadata format
is ongoing. I'd like to move some things about
a bit. MDMF is a discussion of the metadata
XML format itself, Metadata gives some
background an overview and a few old sample
cases. I'm not sure how many people read the
wiki talk page so I thought I'd ask here if there
were any objections before doing it. What would
most likely happen is:

Bell Canada Caller-ID
...a, why doesn't my Caller ID work?*
/Yes, there is a country where things are more complicated than the
UK. Most people think that Canada uses Bellcore, just like the USA.
It does - almost. For some reason, the former Stentor member
companies use a non-standard implementation of MDMF. Bellcore uses
DN (Directory Number), usually the 10 digit number that includes the
area code found in the phone book. Stentor uses DDN (Dialable
Directory Number), a variable length number that is the number that
must be dialed to call the other person
back (ie local calls don&...

X100P CallerID issue solved for my PSTN connection
...th a great help from Richard Alexander (thanks Richard!) I have now a
functional CallerID on my X100P.
This is what I have done:
- update to the latest CVS (as today at 5:00pm GMT)
- modify the callerid.c file in the asterisk source like that.

Contrinued work with Multimedia Metadata Format (M3F)
Hi again Ivo and the Xiph ogg-dev emailing list,
This email is meant to present two blockers for continued development of
the XML based Multimedia Metadata Format (M3F) (MDMF page in the wiki).
This format is intended to replace comments as a way of including
descriptions of metadata contained in the Ogg container format. For
instance title, production year, actors, producers, and so on for movies;
and artist, musicians, labels, and so on for audio. As well as
desc...

Multimedia Metadata Format (M3F) draft
Hi ogg-dev list,
I have improved the format formally known as Media Description and
Metadata (MDMF) for the Ogg Container Format.
Please have a look at the M3F page in the wiki http://wiki.xiph.org/M3F
The format have been simplified and designed primarily with audio and
movie recordings in mind. The old version focused on providing separate
tools for each media type, were the new version tr...

Feedback on XML metadata namespace
Hi ogg-dev list,
After discussing the [lack of] metadata standards on the
irc://irc.freenode.net/#Vorbis channel yesterday I figured I had to
contribute to this process.
Attached is a sample XML formatted metadata sheet describing a song; and
shows off other media type elements as well. How this is to be embedded in
the OGG container is not my field.
I have only spent a couple of hours

...on loose
coupling might be a good way forward.
As an example, Ogg Skeleton and CMML were designed (after some trial
and error) to be independent, ie. any Ogg stream can happily include
only one or both depending on need, and without any expectation of
overriding VorbisComment.
New formats such as MDMF which fill a given need can be designed to
usefully work alongside these existing mechanisms, and the scope of
the Metadata wilki page should be to clarify the overall design.
cheers,
Conrad.

Metadata - Comments or real data?
...mments.) The draw back here is that it wold require
hardware and software players to support XML parsing. However the gain is
much grater when it comes to how rich the descriptions can be. See random
thoughts and idea for more work on: (See VoribsComment page too.)
http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/MDMF
* The third option is to try and stuff in extensions to existing XML based
and other formats in Ogg containers. Though very little interest/ideas have
come up on this end.
