idmap_rid: could not convert sid to uid
Hello, I am trying (again) to get samba+winbind working, with the idmap_rid backend. I am using a freshly installed samba server and client machine, with samba-3.0.13. Most things seem to work, but when I try to get the uid's for the samba users, I run into problems. # net rpc join Password: ******** Joined domain IUATST4W. # net rpc testjoin Join to 'IUATST4W' is OK #

idmap backend problems
Hello, I am trying out Samba + Winbind + NSS + CIFS in a test environment, which currently consists of a PDC, a fileserver, and a client, all with samba 3.0.11 I got everything working more or less, but noticed that the uid's are different on the fileserver and on the client (resulting in erroneous file ownership on the cifs mount). weird characters in files created by gnome login on samba share
Hello, I just tried a gnome login with an empty home directory on a samba mounted directory, and this resulted in several files with strange characters in the filenames in the end. (as created by the initial gnome login) I cannot reproduce this by hand, and it certainly does not happen when I do the login on a local directory, or when I copy that local directory to the samba directory. I use
