Disk space usage with mdbox
Hello,
I am using dovecot with mdbox+sis and I notice an ever increasing disk
space usage since I converted mailboxes from Maildir to mdboxes. I have
checked with a user and while it actually uses only 65K, his mdbox files
on disk are more than 6G. The backup of his mailbox is just 64K. Any
suggestions ?
Below are some relevant commands:
[root at mail ~]# doveadm quota get -u test

constant Log synchronization error's
Hi,
I am seeing constant "Log synchronization error"s in my logs. See later
for an example.
This is dovecot 2.2.4, pigeonhole 0.4.1, and postfix 2.10.1 (with
mailbox_command = /usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver) on a Fedora 19 system.
I am using packages from Atrpms so there are some patches applied - ask
for details. The mailboxes have resently been moved from a i386 system.
I have

Problem syncing e-mails with Outlook
Hello all,
I am running dovecot- 2.3.5.2 with mdbox storage.
I deleted the dovecot.index* from all my folders, which led to mails not
being displayed.
I rebuilt the indexes for all the users after that, using: doveadm
force-resync -u user at domain "*"
However, the problem now is that Outlook,configured for IMAP, is not able
to sync the mails with the server.
I can login to the server

Should I worry about the m.X.broken files ?
How I fix these broken mdboxes ?
Thanks.

Problem syncing mail with IMAP
I am seeing the following errors in my logs, which I believe are preventing
Outlook from syncing.
How do I solve these?
Can I just delete the index.cache??

mdbox index directories: bug?
Hi,
I'm using mdbox now (Dovecot 2.2.4), with indexes on a
separate disk. Works fine, but the directories for indexes are also
present in the storage folder, and are empty. Userdb (sql) returns this:
home /var/vmail/domains/somedomain/someuser
mail
mdbox:~/mdbox:INDEX=/mnt/spool/dovecot/index/somedomain/s/someuser
And
the created directory structure is:

Dovecot over NFS
I'm playing with running dovecot over NFS and I am running into some
issues. I have followed the guide at http://wiki2.dovecot.org/NFS and my
setup includes 1 nfs server and 1 client running postfix/dovecot. In
testing I am running postal via the command:
postal -t 10 -c 10 localhost users399
The test file has a list of 399 users to deliver to. I've provided a

I saw that before but there is only maildir -> mdbox but not mdbox -> maildir
Did I have missed anything there?

Yes, I have still inbox mbox format because I have sendmail delivering
there. I trying to migrate/convert
step by step, with least possible impact for users.

dovecot 2.0.4 imap service error
Just upgraded from 2.0.3 to 2.0.4 and getting this message in the logs
(repeated several times)
master: Error: service(imap): child 9631 killed with signal 11
I'm using mdbox and had no problems using 2.0.3 until I upgraded this
morning. I understand there were some Index changes and I'm not
keeping indexes in a separate directory. but still I've made this
change to configuration

Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
With this setting, all folders are empty, I guess understandable,
because the mdbox has its own indexes stored locally with it. Does not
explain though why inbox is empty.

doveadm import with subfolder oddity
This has got to be something weird in my config. And the standard
disclaimer of '"happy to post doveconf -n, but wanted to see if this is
normal first" :)
Background: Ubuntu Xenial, running 2.2.36. Mailbox type is mdbox and I've
got a period separator in my inbox namespace:
namespace {
hidden = no
inbox = yes
list = yes
location =
mailbox Spam {
auto = no
