ThinkStation with BIOS RAID and disk error messages in gparted
My ThinkStation runs CentOS 7 which I installed on a BIOS RAID 0 setup with two identical 256 Gb SSDs after removing Windows. It runs fine but I just discovered in gparted something that does not seem right:
- Launching gparted it complains "invalid argument during seek for red on /dev/md126" and when I click on Ignore I get another error "The backup GPT table is corrupt, but the primary appears OK, so that will be used." I then click on OK whereupon I again see the second error message. I then see "Not all of the space available to /dev/sdb appears to be used, you...

raid6: rmw writes all the time?
Hi all,
we got a new test system here and I just also tested btrfs raid6 on
that. Write performance is slightly lower than hw-raid (LSI megasas) and
md-raid6, but it probably would be much better than any of these two, if
it wouldn''t read all the during the writes. Is this a known issue? This
is with linux-3.9.2.
Thanks,
Bernd

ThinkStation with BIOS RAID and disk error messages in gparted

IIRC the old dmraid support for motherboard RAID has been phased out,
but mdraid has grown support for Intel (and maybe some other?) common
motherboard RAID. So, /dev/md<foo> doesn't inherently mean "Linux
software RAID" for a while now...

libguestfs and md devices
...referenced in fstab as, e.g. /dev/md0, aren't
handled correctly by inspection. This looks a bit more complicated. In
my test guest, the guestfs appliance automatically creates the 2 md
devices as:
* /dev/md/localhost:localdomain:0
* /dev/md/localhost:localdomain:1
These are symlinks to ../md126 and ../md127 respectively. I haven't yet
worked out why they aren't created as md0 and md1 as in the guest. I
think here we need to either work out how to make the appliance detect
and use their names (if this is even possible), or to map the names
appropriately using information from /...

CentOS 7 when writing the MBR to the MD device (in my case md126) it
writes the information to both sda and...

Hello!
On my server PC i have Centos 7 installed.
CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810.
There are four arrays RAID1 (software RAID)
md124 - /boot/efi
md125 - /boot
md126 - /bd
md127 - /
I have configured booting from both drives, everything works fine if both drives are connected.
But if I disable any drive from which RAID1 is built the system crashes, there is a partial boot and as a result the Entering emergency mode.
By all rules RAID1 in case of similar failur...

...ess would stop short
very early in the process.
Now, I have backups of the important stuff of course, so no real
catastrophe. But it would be nice if I could get back the data from my
disk directly.
I booted a rescue disk (Slax 9.6.4) and I can see my disks as well as
raid arrays /dev/md125, /dev/md126 and /dev/md127. Oh, my partitioning
scheme is manual and quite simple. Everything is RAID 1, I have a /boot
array on /dev/sda1 + /dev/sdb1, swap on /dev/sda2 + /dev/sdb2 and / on
/dev/sda3 + /dev/sdb3.
I tried to mount /dev/sda3 directly from the rescue disk:
# mount /dev/sda3 /mnt
But I only...
