Subsystem sftp invoked even though forced command created
...or or built from sources.
Unless I can get some expert advice, I believe this kills off the use of SSH as a quick and secure transport for unattended file transfer and ingestion by applications, at least on Linux. It will have to be replaced by TLS or the Splunk Universal Agent. Pity, that.

Subsystem sftp invoked even though forced command created
...The subsystem configuration in sshd_config is

I would almost expect this sort of behavior with the internal-sftp subsystem, but not with an external executable. Can anyone shed some light on this situation?

Something broken in voicemail app??
I updated my source and compiled * last night so I am running
CVS-HEAD-08/24/04-23:51:01. This morning I have noticed that when anyone
tries to retrieve their voicemail, the voicemail app is not recognizing
any digits entered from the phones (cisco 7960's), so It just times-out
waiting for digits. Has anyone else seen this problem or could it be
something in our environment?
TIA,
Jamie

How would the script even *know* that the client requested the SFTP
subsystem? Is a subsystem's executable/path, supposedly internally
overwritten with the forced command at that point, exposed through
$SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND ?

Optimistic Locking Enhancements: Gem or Core?
I''m working on an app that makes use of rails'' optimistic locking feature
and seeing some possibilities for improvements. It seems a bit tedious to
have to add :lock_version to forms wherever the model is used. You also
have to "hack" around rails'' UJS feature to add it as a URL parameter when
using remote: true, method: [:put, :patch, :post, :delete].

Switching databases in Rails v1.0 app
Hello, I need some guidance. I have a need to:
a) Login, validating against a "system-level" user database - no big
deal, then
b) Depending upon the login, select a customer database for processing.
For instance, assume that my login profile lists an area of interest:
cars, motorcycles or boats. Each of these has a database, with identical
table formats. If my login shows my area of

Regarding eBay tools
recently someone had posted a question about running eBay's TurdboLister
under Wine. Just recently a Mono-based auction tool project has been
started, so perhaps you'll want to keep an eye on that as well.

UDP Vs. TCP
I haven't touched IceCast yet, but I evaluating it for a project. On the
website it says it uses TCP for streaming, is there an option of UDP?
Wouldn't UDP be better for a large amount of streams? Thanks

Multicasting would be more interesting but not feasible for the project. The
design has to be able to feed multiply end points while those end points can
change sources at will as well as generate their own stream. Some of the
broadcasts will be timed (on-air slots) say Friday night 1900-2200.

question
...excuse newbie
questions.
Is there a way to execute commands from the command prompt
automatically? The reason I'm asking is I'd like to make a bootable restore
CD that will be fully automated. I don't want the end user to have to do
anything other than insert the CD and boot.

Symlinks followed literally in Debian 3.0, not in Red Hat 7.3
...,
I figured I'd resubscribe to let people know that there is,
in fact, a way around this. When I upgraded johnboy to Linux
kernel version 2.6.10, all the formerly problematic symlinks
worked. Apparently, the 2.6.10 kernel fixed some issues in
the smbfs code relating to symlinks (thanks to Ted McManus for
pointing this out to me). So if you're running Linux clients,
my advice is to upgrade them to kernel 2.6.10.
