Samba fails
..."valid users" to just "users", and got the same result. I'm not really sure what else to try, but I sure would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. Thank you!

(no subject)
...both return results. Getent also returns results, both getent passwd & getent group. I've created a test folder and added it in the smb.conf file as a share:
[test]
path = /test
writeable = yes
browseable = yes
guest ok = no
valid users = VANDERBILT\mcgranj
public = no
This folder does exist on the server, but when I try to map, I get no results. When I check the samba log, I see that samba crashes:
lib240:/usr/local/samba/var#tail 129.59.149.157.log

unable to map to share
...tically recognize me since we are authenticating
through Active Directory and 2) create the share so that I can
read/write to it, but neither one happens. It actually prompts me for my
username & password and then errors out:
Enter the user name for 'libdig4.library.vanderbilt.edu': mcgranj
Enter the password for libdig4.library.vanderbilt.edu: <password>
System error 53 has occurred.
The network path was not found.
We believe it is something with winbind, but when we run winbind with
debug level 3, nothing is clearly obvious as to the problem:

...the Sun version
and created a sym-link to the 1.6.3 version. Now when I run kinit
anywhere on the server, it picks up the 1.6.3 version and launches
successfully.
I've been able to successfully join our domain by running the following
command:
lib240:/usr/local/samba/bin#./net ads join -U mcgranj
I've modified my nsswitch.conf file and re-started winbindd. However,
when I issue the following commands, I get nothing:
Wbinfo -u
lib240:/usr/local/samba/bin#wbinfo -u
Error looking up domain users
Wbinfo -g
lib240:/usr/local/samba/bin#wbinfo -g
Error looking up domain groups...

CORRECTION: net ads join fails
...the Sun version
and created a sym-link to the 1.6.3 version. Now when I run kinit
anywhere on the server, it picks up the 1.6.3 version and launches
successfully.
