LAN Streaming
First of all, Thank you for a great program... I am trying to setup a sort of Radio Station for our College and your program is ideal. So yeah thanks. However i have a question: I understand that to stream over the internet you need a streaming server. Correct? BUT for me, streaming over our LAN, will that be necerssary? Ideally I would like to use the computer that is running Icecast to

dynamically naming columns in a data frame
...ways read as a text string, I have not been able to substitute a variable. I also tried substituting the Abbreviate() call for newName, hoping the char string return would be used. That caused syntax errors. Does anyone know a solution to dynamically naming columns? Thank you very much! new package clubSandwich: Cluster-Robust (Sandwich) Variance Estimators with Small-Sample Corrections
...elease of the clubSandwich package: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/clubSandwich clubSandwich provides several variants of the cluster-robust variance estimator for ordinary and weighted least squares linear regression models, including the bias-reduced linearization estimator of Bell and McCaffrey (2002). The package includes functions for estimating the variance-covariance matrix and for testing single- and multiple-contrast hypotheses based on Wald test statistics. The hypothesis tests incorporate small-sample corrections that lead to more accurate rejection rates when the number of cluste...

Propensity score modeling using machine learning methods. WAS: RE: LARS for generalized linear models
...gical studies. A major part of this is the development of a propensity score model (when the exposure is binary). I would like to use tools/approaches that can do this semi-automatically so that the resulting model has both low prediction error and good covariate balance. I have read your paper (McCaffrey, Ridgeway and Morral 2004), which uses a gradient boosting machine (gbm) to build a logistic regression model for propensity score. I was wondering whether there are other tools that can also address this problem, for example, glmpath or MARS? An important question is whether these "machine...
