Samba in a Win2000 / NT Enterprise
Hello,
I am currently integrating 20 workstations and 5 Servers (all Dell Products)
running Red Hat 7.2 (2.4.7-10) into a Windows 2000 / NT Enterprise network
of about 2,000 users.
I have been using a Samba server (version 2.2.1) with "security=domain" so
that any user with a W2K domain logon can access the Samba file server.
However, I want to move into full integration and set up all

Mailing list etiquette? [mildly off-topic]
Since i've gotten so much help from this list with my samba issues, i've
been trying to be active and help others, but heres my question. If I

person i'm helping, or both? I've been keeping it on the mailing list,
but some people may want the help to come into their main mailbox.
Should I send to both?

availible with the latest versions? I'd like to see (commented out of
course) the options to activate winbind, along with some more
information about domain membership. theres also some stuff currently
in there that's been deprecated (domain controller) and theres even tons
of options for each share (like oplocks,

WinXP. Ugh. + windows 2000 and higher with WINS
I can actually answer this one. Windows 2000 and higher NO LONGER USES
WINS. While 2000 server does still include a WINS server component,
2000 clients no longer (mostly) use them. They now use the active
directory DNS for all resolution instead of WINS. I'm a bit out of my
element, but I've had my WINS get hosed before, and I never knew until
somebody with win98 called and said they
