So I'm a bit lost. I don't suppose anyone could suggest any potential remedies?
It strikes me that something else is going on beyond the obvious, but I can't
figure it out.
Help most gratefully received (cries of hallelujahs etc).

UTF8_LANG: a much better idea
...lso means that we're back to all tags actually holding data that
the user is likely to care about directly. UTF8_LANG is data that only
a program is likely to care about, and a program that simply displays
all tags is likely to make users go "what the heck is UTF8_LANG?")

title tags -- languages
...;s the place for it; and on the other,
there's probably not much demand for it. I've wanted this type of thing
for a good while, though, and a standard place for it would be nice.
Putting this stuff in a custom metadata field would mean having to
write my own tagging software.

Security issue
Hello,
I am trying to convince our IT Manager that R is as safe as possible from IT security point of view - could you point me to something on the web / some reasons for why this is true? I do not think he has a specific concern but does not know the software and would like to understand the security implications.
Thanks in advance

Determining the port assigned by -R 0
...t this information? For the short term
I'll probably just parse the plaintext "Allocated port..." message, but
that's obviously not a reliable solution. It would be helpful if a list of
forwarded ports was stored in a parsable environment variable, as with
SSH_CLIENT.

traces and so on; if the performance I'm seeing is already optimal
then I won't bother. I'm on 3.4.0, which is what's packaged with my
version of Ubuntu; I'll also try upgrading to 3.5.x if that's likely
to help.)

It's in Delphi 5. I will make the source code available when I'm happy with
it, if anyone wants it.

Initially I've designed the interface for the 95% of users who just want
something very simple and can see the tags they are interested in on one
form. I may add an

tags in comment field - why?
...ice to allow it to be done right; to allow programs to
let me choose MS Gothic for Japanese and NSimSun for Chinese. (IE allows
this.)
Why put tags in a separate, severely limited format? ID3V1 did that
(at orders of magnitude worse, of course), and the switch to ID3V2 was
painful.

How to use multiple link-dest directories?
...if there is some
quoting weirdness that differs between these two cases.)
I guess the other alternative is that my syntax is fine and there is
simply a bug in the feature, but that seems awfully unlikely --- I'd
imagine when this was added in 2.6.4 it got at least some testing.

patches for xiph build setup
Hi,
I offered some time ago to do some build cleanup. Today I did so and
here's my slew of patches.
Basically, they
- touch ogg, vorbis, vorbis-tools and theora
- fix a bunch of autotools issues
- uniformize the use of them across the four
- fix compile/link flags
- use pkgconfig if it's available to detect flags
- for vorbis-tools, generate and use config.h
- add -uninstalled .pc stuff

How do I setup Dovecot to read both local UNIX account maildirs and a
