Hosts leaving domain without reasons...
Hello all,
I've got Samba 3.0.24-6etch4 (Debian revision) running on a production server
which acts as a PDC for a network of some Windows XP clients (around 250).
Since sometime (I am not able to determine exactly when) I get a strange
problem arising : some clients are banned from my domain. The only solution I
found is to reintroduced the clients into the domain. Once hosts have rejoined

Windows 7 machine trust accounts expiring
There was an earlier thread about failing trust relationships between
Windows 7 and Samba. Since we occasionally experience the same problem
with Win 7 clients against a Samba 3.5.4 server, I investigated this a
bit further.
I think it happens when
- the time to change the machine password has arrived
- the Win 7 machine is up, but no one is logged on (login box is shown
on the screen).

Samba Domain & XP
I am not able to join an XP Machine to a Samba domain. I am able to complete
all the procedure until the reboot, bur after the Windows reboot, at the
login, the windows says that it is not possible to contact the Primary
domain controller. No debug arrive to samba at the login. The machine trust
on the domain is done correctly with "on the fly" tecnique.

Samba/WinXP domain-logon
I'm trying to use my samba as domain controller and logon-server for my
WinXP-client. I can see all the shares, and get access to them using
user/password, but when trying to join the domain, it fails with "The
specified user does not exist", even though it does.
The server-log says "smbd/server.c:exit_server(458)".
Can anyone help?

Mystery Samba (3.4.1) and Win7
Hi!
I read many threads and tried many "solutions" but
I can't get Win7 (RTM, 64 bit) and Samba 3.4.1 to work together.
I am still failing with the "trusteeship" problem during
the first logon after domain join.
Is there a working solution?

Problem with trust relationship
Hello everyone,
I have a Samba 3.4.7 + OpenLDAP working as PDC. Since this morning,
some computers, mainly the ones with Windows 7, are getting trust
relationship problems and I cannot find the source of the problem. All
my windows boxes do automatic updates, and there was a pack of 9 or 10
updates yesterday, but i don't know if this have some relation with
the problem.

WinXP PDC logon problem...
Hi all,
I've seen this raised as an issue on other mailing
lists, but I've not seen a solution, and I've seen a
number of notes to post to this alias instead, so
here I am.
I've setup Samba as a PDC running on Solaris. I have
a WinXP (latest patch levels) PC which I want to
join to the domain. I can successfully join the
domain using root authentication, but I am unable to

Win7 - Samba 3.5.4 trust relationship
...P(xp has no problems).
I've read about similar symptoms when Win7 tries to change its machine
password on every 30 days. Therefore some additional regs were added:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters]
"DisablePasswordChange"=dword:00000001
"MaximumPasswordAge"=dword:1000000
and this didn't help. I've compared the machine password values on both
LDAP servers - they are same and synchronization is working fine.
In the wild, some people report that this issue is fixed when the
"lmcompatibilitylevel" is limited to LM and NTLM authe...

Loooooong logon-times using samba 3.5.6 and Windows 7
Dear samba-users
We are experiencing some rather long logon times using SAMBA 3.5.6 on Debian Squeeze + Windows 7 and while trying to find out why we raised the loglevel to 5 resulting in a rather large logfile. But this did give us a hint as to why we experience so long logon times. It seems that samba is going through the whole user-database with all usernames and machine-accounts.
Eventually

...though is that this
password actually changes periodically!
For NT it changes every 7 days by default, for Windows 2000 the default is
30 days instead.
For NT workstation, if you add a new registry entry of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetLogon\Parameters
Add Value name MaximumPasswordAge as a type REG_DWORD. The default is 7 and
the range is 1 to 1,000,000. You can also disable the password change if you
Add Value name DisablePasswordChange, also a REG_DWORD, and set it to 1.
Unfortunately I don't know if a similar registry entry exists for Windows
2000 or if the same one woul...
