limit for user exceeded
Hi System debian 8.11 dovecot-2.2.36.4 and I have some warnings in log likes: Warning: Inotify watch limit for user exceeded, disabling. Increase /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches 8192 in sysctl i change #fs.inotify.max_user_watches= 8192 #fs.inotify.max_user_instances = 16384 fs.inotify.max_user_watches= 16384 fs.inotify.max_user_instances = 24576 One questions - should these values be equal?

Inotify instance limit for user exceeded, disabling.
Hi. What does the warning "Inotify instance limit for user exceeded, disabling." mean, and how do I get rid of it? I assume that I have to change a limit somewhere? Regards, Anders.

Can't start dovecot from heartbeat
...to increase /proc/sys/fs/epoll/max_user_instances) Works fine if I start it by hand, I'm guessing it has to due with the environment heart starts it in? My first thought was to do exactly what the message suggests, but my kernel doesn't appear to define max_user_instances, but there is a max_user_watches. I'm running 1.2.8, by the way. But I had a similar problem with earlier version too. John

CentOS 7 + MATE : Folder contents not refreshed in file manager
Hi, I just migrated my workstation running CentOS 7 from KDE to MATE. It looks like I'm having the same problem with the Caja file manager than with Dolphin. Folder contents don't get refreshed automatically, and I have to hit F5. For example, when I download a file (say, a compressed archive) from the Internet, I have to hit F5 to see the file in Caja. And when I extract the archive, I

inotify max_user instances
Hello, Timo, last year when you remoted into our server and performed the migration from courier-imap, we ran into this issue, and you solved it by doing: echo 1024 > /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances Then you said you were going to solve this permanently by changing the init script... Here is what you said (this is from the skype chat): [2012-06-04 10:40:43 AM] timosirainen:

Inotify instance limit for user exceeded, disabling?
...g else? since it's a kernel message, I suspect just restarting dovecot won't do it. And what exactly is breaking when I receive this notification? The proc docs indicate: /proc/sys/fs/inotify (since Linux 2.6.13) This directory contains files max_queued_events, max_user_instances, and max_user_watches, that can be used to limit the amount of kernel memory consumed by the inotify interface. For further details, see <http://linux.die.net/man/7/inotify>inotify(7). Is this dovecot monitoring for new mail? thanks Rick [root at agencymail inotify]# dovecot -n # 1.1.8: /etc/dovecot.conf #...
