what is the current correct repos structure for mac osx binaries?
Dear R-developers,
As part of our package building process, we maintain internal CRAN-like
repositories of our packages. This has worked pretty well, but we are
running into issues with R 3.1 and OSX mavericks.
Specifically, machines with osx mavericks seem to, by default, expect
packages to be located under a 'mavericks' sub-directory, but this is
not the location reported when generating a mac.binary appropriate
contrib url.

OSX Yosemite (10.10): Are package binaries the same as for OSX Mavericks (10.9)?
...t possible OSX Yosemite
issues, but I've only got access to OSX (< 10.9) so I cannot check
myself.
When building/installing binary R packages, there are different
binaries depending on OSX version. For instance, CRAN provides
different binaries for 'OS X Snow Leopard' and 'OS X Mavericks', e.g.
http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/matrixStats/index.html.
What about the new OSX Yosemite? From
http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-devel/R-admin.html#Yosemite it
looks like its binaries are the same/compatible with those of 'OS X
Mavericks' - can someone please confi...

Check package issue on mavericks
Dear List,
I've realized that the "CRAN Checking Package" system returns some
Warnings for my package TR8 under "r-release-osx-x86_64-mavericks"; all the
warnings include the following message "Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key"
which I find a little cryptic.
After some web searches, I understood that "MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE" is related
to the X server and most of the messages reporting issues with that are
related to R...

Check package issue on mavericks
I just checked your package on a mavericks VM and it seems fine, so I
wouldn't worry about it. Probably some configuration issue on the CRAN
server, perhaps xquartz is outdated.
Unfortunately there is no easy way anymore to check on Mavericks.
Travis used to support it, but they have deprecated mavericks (along
with Apple and homebrew...

Steam overlay ubuntu maverick
Hello, annoying problem here.
I've recently installed Ubuntu Maverick beta 1 with wine 1.3.2. For some time now, my steam overlay has been functioning perfectly. Now, since installing Maverick, I've suddenly lost the steam overlay. The process doesn't even launch at all, and invoking it manually is impossible.
Are there any known issues with Maverick, wine,...

While doing that, I found that the official R-3.1.*-mavericks.pkg are crippled, compared

mpi.h errors on Mavericks packages
...g that
almost all of the mpi dependent packages do not compile on the CRAN
repositories.... with the basic issue that it appears it can not find
mpi installed:
configure: error: "Cannot find mpi.h header file"
I do not see any chatter about mpi issues in the lists since the
inception of mavericks.. and possibly this question should go to
Simon.. but in case I missed a discussion, or if anyone has any
suggestions on how to proceed, or what might be missing from the Rmpi,
npRmpi, etc. packages for compilation on Mavericks, it would be
greatly appreciated if you could let me know.. and maybe...

gsl package on mavericks
hello
I maintain the gsl R package, and many users have recently reported that
the package
does not install from source under macosx 10.9 ("mavericks").
Users typically install the gnu GSL library and are able to compile and run
a small "hello world" program which executes some of the Bessel functionality
of the library; but under mavericks the configure script (which uses
gsl-config as a probe) does not seem to detect which ver...

Issue with Mavericks Mail Client
We run a dovecot mailserver. One of the clients I use is a Mac Laptop.
Recently I upgraded from Mountain Lion (10.8) to Mavericks (10.9). Under
10.8 it worked fine. On 10.9 it syncs up when I invoke the client, but
after a while stops getting updates.
Most of my mail clients are on Linux (thunderbird) or Android (K9) and I
admit that several run against my very large INBOX simultaneously. The
one of the 10.9 Mac laptop...

Dirk, Michael - thanks for the useful advice.
Re: Hmisc: It turns out that Hmisc is available as a package for
Maverick directly from packages.ubuntu.com: r-cran-hmisc
(also for natty, oneiric, and precise)

Because the latest version failed to build on Mavericks:
http://www.r-project.org/nosvn/R.check/r-release-osx-x86_64-mavericks/Rglpk-00install.html
Possibly because a system requirement is not installed.

block node 202 in maverick domU
Hello,
this subject came up yesterday in ##xen@freenode.net
In an Ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) domU, using /dev/xvda in
------------- mavU.cfg ---------
disk = [ "phy:/dev/VG/mavU,xvda,w" ]
#
------ snip cfg ------
leads to
`rootfs not found` errors and the domU will not finish booting.
However, changing xvda->sda works, as long as its done in config, fstab, and perhaps i...

Samba client 3.6.5 fails sending to MAC 0S 10.9.x Maverick server
I have been searching for weeks for information to our problem, trying to connect our smbclient 3.6.5 to a MAC running 10.9.5 server, and I finally came across the reason. It appears with Maverick, Apple will only accept SMB2 signed signatures. The problem with the 3.6.5 client is, it never supported SMB2, thus will not write the SMB2 signatures. I can add "client signing = disabled" to the smb.conf file, but I don't want to restrict for all servers, a device may talk to. Is th...

Installin wine 1.3 shouldn't be this complicated!
I'm new to ubuntu but i'm starting to understand it. However, Ubuntu is completely useless for me if I can't run the latest version of wine (1.3).
Wine 1.2 was working great on 10.04 however photoshop cs4 wouldn't install on it. So I upgraded to maverick, deleted wine 1.2, and am now trying to install wine 1.3. Should be simple, right?
I've added the correct repositories to software sources, however due to a faulty GPG key for launchpad the repository, ubuntu will not let me install the software from it.
I get the following error when reloa...

USE_CXX1X, Snow Leopard R binaries + Mavericks
...operly set (?)
IIUC, R is not propagating CXX nor CXX1X when USE_CXX1X is set on a
Snow Leopard CRAN build of R. Is this the expected behaviour? IIUC,
Snow Leopard binaries are built with older compilers and hence we
might not expect this to even work were CXX or CXX1X propagated (ie,
grabbing the Mavericks clang / clang++).
Comments on this in R-exts would be greatly appreciated as well.
