wine and Monkey Island 4
Hi,
today I wanted to start Monkey Island 4 with wine. I'am using cvs version
of wine from today (04.Feb.2001), I also patched the transgaming directx
patch into it.
My system: SuSE 7.0 with KDE2.1beta2, GeForce 2MX with 0.96 NVidia drivers,
Soundblaster PCI 128 (ES1371) with Kernel drivers.
I use wine with installed Windows. My startup command is:
wine "c:\Monkey4\Monkey.exe"

[LLVMdev] lli on cygwin - ERROR: Program used "some standard c" function which could not be found
I've tried using llvm 2.5 and svn version with both gcc3.4 and gcc-4.3.2. It
apparently is not finding the most standard c functions.
I suspect this may be because they might live in cygwin.dll. Ins there any
to force static linking.
Or is there any build recipies that might help?

--xattrs requires protocol 30 or higher error
Hi there,
We are using rsync 3.0.6 on two identical SLES 10.2 servers. The
destination server is running rsyncd. When I include the -X switch in the
rsync command from the source I get the following:
--xattrs requires protocol 30 or higher (negotiated 29).
rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at compat.c(205)
[sender=3.0.6]
Both rsync versions are 3.0.6 protocol version 30.

Possible buglet (wart ?) of odfWeave 0.7.6 (with workaround)
Dear List,
I have had problems inserting some (not all !) figures via odfWeave
(using print(someLatticeFunction)...). The figure was correctly
displayed in a R device window but the resulting ODF document displayed
the correct space for the figure and an empty frame with a "broken
image" icon and a "read error" mention.
Exploration of the odf (.odt, in my case) file showed

Trivial 12% performance gain in encoding
...(x) (exp((x)*.11512925*0.5))
In vorbis/lib/psy.c at the bottom of bark_noise(), do:
< noise[i]=sqrt(fromdB(v));
> noise[i]=sqrt_fromdB(v);
This avoids the sqrt() call entirely by just doing it as part of the exp().
(I'd send a patch, but my local source tree is severely mauled with timing instrumentation code :)

animation framework
Hey,
I wonder if Rails is already or planning to get integrated with an
animation framework? It may be a javascript library or some runtime
environment like flash has.
I know a bit about script.aculo.us but besides its animated effects, I
dont see any animation library which we can use to animate anything on
the page with an effect. I think Yahoo UI has animation library but I
dont think rails

Suspiciously broken filesystem
I appear to have a broken filesystem on this box to the point where I am
probably going to rebuild the system since I have lost trust in it.... I
was wondering if there was any reasonable postmortum work I could do on
it before it gets rebuilt.
History is that the laptop has a much mauled partition set on it -
initially it came with 100% win2k, I then shrunk that and added linux (a
RH71 install onto 2 partitions - /boot and /), then decided to get rid
of the win2k, and did a set of operations with parted 1.4.14 (running
from a boot floppy) to move and grow the root partition (which...

HowTo run Monkey Island 4 with wine
Hi,
because nobody was able to tell me why I wasn't able to run Monkey Island
in wine I now tell you what i did to get it running:
I have installed wine with the transgaming directx patch (which is not
necessary for wine). Monkey Island defaulted to DirectX when I started it,
but the Transgaming Patch is yet not good enough to run MI4.
To get it running you have to to the following:

Samba member server and trusted domains question
Hi,
I have two Windows Domains, DOMA and DOMB. A Samba 3.6 Server is a member server in DOMA.
DOMA has a (unidirectional) trust relationship to DOMB.
Users from DOMB should be able to connect and authenticate at the Samba server.
The domain controller of DOMB has the IP 10.35.5.25.
During authentication of a DOMB user at a share I get the following log entries:
get_dc_list: preferred server
