Help about CMS - newbie in RoR
Hi team, I''m a very newbie RoR user from Spain and I''m developing a
blog''s CMS. Why RoR?, coz I think it''s an amazing framework with many
posibilities, portable and really powerful, with a young and optimist
community, and taking my project I''ve prefered his structure in front of
LAMP. Another thing is that I''ve liked to surprise my masters

Samba3 on multiple networks, how to make it hand out the correct IP?
...k the client is on I would have expected
it to actually be a little bit smarter with regards to that.
Anyway, I'd like to see this changed so that any clients on 192.168.* only
get the 192.168.1.1 address, and the clients on 10.* only get 10.0.0.2.
How can I do this?
Thanks,
Bram.

codepage-conversion for smbclient
Hi list,
I've browsed through the archives, but I didn't find a answer for
this:
I use smbclient to access a windowsNT 4.0 server.
I get only '?' for filenames which contains Umlauts.
F.e., a file called "Verkn?pfung" is displayed as "Verkn?pfung".
I use following mount-string:
mount.smbfs //SERVER/Share /home/xxx -o rw noexec nosuid nodev user

'document has been locked for editing by another user' - medium latency / limited bw connection issues?
...with notepad without any problems, but then again
notepad doesn't do any locking..
On a LAN pc I don't have any locking issues.
I would be surprised if I were the only one with this issue, VPN to Samba
and the use of Microsoft Office should all be quite common :)
Thanks,
Bram.

PDC Problems...
Hi all,
I've looked through the archives and I can't seem to find a solution, so
here's my problem.
I have three Win2k clients and one Samba server which I set up as a PDC
(or at least I thought so.)
The domain is "THEMOLE" yet when I try to join the domain from the
clients it says;
"The following error occured validaing the name "THEMOLE"

Samba 4 + Windows XP very slow - especially noticeable with many files
...not that I could find.
Hopefully someone can help us out here. We've always been proud to use
Samba at our school instead of Windows servers, but right now it's not
really showing the best of it ;).
Thanks in advance, and like I said.. if I need to provide anything..
let me know,

recreate/re-provision DNS db from scratch?
...of known issue, I think it would be worth a shot to
recreate all the mandatory DNS entries.. the whole db.. all the way from
scratch. I have a simple single server setup with no (other) static DNS
entries so that should be straightforward, right? Is this possible? And how?
Thanks,
Bram.

how to remove an (offline) DC from Samba 4 ?
...o?
Should I start messing with ldbedit/ldbdel? I'm worried to mess up things,
especially dead references to the old DC. Or is this the way to go.
This is on samba 4.1.4, running as AD, with all FSMO roles seized (in case
it matters).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bram.

add Samba 4 to existing classic NT4 domain (and upgrade to AD)
...story, I guess my question is: can I join a
Samba 4 to an existing (classic) NT4 domain and upgrade it to use AD?
One solution would be to first join the domain with a samba 3.6.x
server, and then later migrate that one to 4.x
Is that the only solution or is there a direct way?
Regards,
Bram Matthys.

win 2000 - samba unix mount
Happy new year samba supporters!!
I am new to samba. I am a UNIX admin and no little of MS shares.
I am trying to use samba to mount/share my unix home dir on my pc
running win 2000 pro. The samba server is running and I can smbclient to
my user id successfully on the server. I have tried security user AND
share. Either way, when I try mapping network drive on pc, specify user

Could somebody please explain just how one is supposed to set up samba

I am afraid that the manuals and config files and various examples I have
found on the Internet are quite confusing.
