Xen w/ Matrox Parhelia - cpu_callout_map
I''ve been attempting to use my machine with a Matrox Parhelia card with
the Fedora Core 6 Xen kernel. The Matrox card requires a kernel
module. The module builds without error, but fails to load due to an
unknown symbol, "cpu_callout_map".
I submitted this issue to the Unofficial Matrox Technical Support Forum,
but haven''t b...

Problex with Matrox G450 and XFree86 4.3.0 on 4.8-STABLE
Hi All
I have just finished a re-install of a box that was previously working fine
under 4.7.
The problem is that the matrox drm kernel module is failinf to initialise
correctly.

matrox rt.x100
Hi,
I got a Matrox RT.X100 Pro capture card to make a live video streaming
with it. The concert to be streamed will be on Saturday...
I have a Linux-based server running Icecast 2.3, so I need to make this
computer with the Matrox card to work with the Icecast server. I'd

3D Acceleration with Matrox MGA G200EH?
I'm running on a machine with a Matrox MGA G200EH but it doesn't appear
that the 3D acceleration is being used (for example Google Earth lists the
driver as being Mesa). Is there an additional driver that I need to install
to enable the 3D acceleration functionality? Or something else I need to do?
Thanks,
Dave

C7 basic install, HATE
...ler.
100% of the time, the graphical screen is screwed. Resolution's so big
that I cannot see the right-hand 10% or 15% of the screen. There doesn't
seem to be any way that I've found yet to make it higher res, so I can
read it.
It's *not* the monitor's fault. It is an ancient Matrox video card... but
I would have thought the VESA driver could handle it.
Any suggestions?

MATROX GPU - xorg-x11-drv-mga-1.6.3 on supermicro server
Hello Guys,
our cluster runs till 2014 on supermicro board.
It is not unusual that still mainboards with mga graphics cards are delivered.
So I have then adjusted the mga driver from centos 6 - the specification file - ,
to be build on CentOS 7. Since then this runs on the headnode without failures.
Maybe you should provide this via epel. The source can be found here:

Triple- or Quad-display single-card graphics solutions
...n the PCI-Ex16 expansion slot. However, the display requirements have increased to 3 or more monitors for future expansion, so I was wondering whether anyone had any experience with triple- or quad-display single card solutions. Thus far, I have found two promising solutions:
NVidia NVS 510 or 450
Matrox M-series M9138 or M9148
Both these solutions claim to have Linux support, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them in CentOS 6.4? And if there were any other solutions I had overlooked?
Thanks,
-G.

Easiest would be put $20.00 into an old video card to replace the
Matrox. Matrox support seems to have degraded in X11 after 2010 or so.
The next solution would be to try the text mode and stick to that.

I used to use Matrox M9140 cards, but that requires the Matrox proprietary

I also tested two other cards: ATI FirePro 2450 and NVidia Quadro NVS 420.
For each of these cards, the BIOS shows the card in slot 1 as a PCI Bridge.

Large plot symbols (with pch = 1 etc)

So it looks as though R is reading the width wrongly,
and that it is the width that is somehow used to
determine the plot character size.
Incidentally I noted Brian's comment that R had misread
his character dimension information wrongly. I have a
Matrox MM2 board on my Windows 98 (SE) machine.
I understand he will be using a Matrox G200. Is there a
Matrox connection?

KDE Dying Overnight After Centos 7 Upgrade
On two blades both with Atom Processors but different Graphics chips (a
Matrox WPCM450 on one, Intel 82945Gon the other). One machine had distorted
video and required logging out of KDE and then back again. The other one
had no video and required ssh from another box to restart X remotely (which
I didn't think I should be able to do).

Help with multi-monitor Xorg stuff
I have an unusual use case. I wonder if anyone can help. We use a PC
with 8 HDMI outputs for powering a video wall in an operations centre.
We use two Matrox video cards, each with 4 outputs. "lspci" reports
these cards as" [AMD/ATI] Cape Verde PRO [FirePro W600]".
On an older version of CentOS 7, I used the proprietary AMD/ATI
driver. This had a utility (I roorget the name) that generated a
working xorg.conf file. I could them thro...

using tapply with a matrix?
...ssification factor (data$profile):
vols <- tapply(data$depth, data$profile, topbot)
works great.
But now I want to do something similar, except my function will take a 3 column matrix with nrows() equal to the factor's length. tapply doesn't like this; I suspect it converts the 3 column matrox into a vector by ignoring the DIM atribute.
I can't apply the funtion to each column separately as I need the info in all three simultaneously for the function's results.
I could always revert to "for" loops but was looking for a more concise solution in the spirit of "R&q...

Video card suggestions
...driver locks up.
I downloaded the nvidia drivers and they will not run at 1920x1080p.
I then purchased another card the MX4000 the specs said it would do more
than 1920x1080
but the FINE print said in DVI mode it only does 1600x1200.
All the cards I find say 1920x1080i.
I tried a P650 also from Matrox but I could not get the drivers to work
at all on linux.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Jerry

Subject: [syslinux] maximum number of characters in APPEND
Hi,
I wonder whether there is a maximum number of characters you can use for
the APPEND label.
I am using the following options:

ramdisk_size=10000 rw root=/dev/ram0 video=matrox:off video=aty128fb:off

video=hgafb:off video=tridentfb:off video=vesa:on video=vesa:ywrap,mtrr

and the system does not know the variable LABEL after the boot. I tried to
put the option "LABEL=MoviX"...

Rgui crash under Windows
Dear all,
I found the following on R 2.3.1. for Windows XPpro SP2, tested on 2 PCs
AMD 64 3700+, Ati 9700
AMD Athlon 2400+, Matrox G550
Do the following:
x <- as.matrix(0);
fix(x)
pasting a big chunk of data, for instance the one below, into a cell
of the editor will crash the RGui.
