Massive Virtual Drive, is it possible?
I'm new to the world of linux, and I was wondering if you could help me out. There reason, I'm come over to linux, is to try and create a massive virtual drive, that I could attacth to my servers, and have them use it. Speed is not essential, but functionality is. There are not that many people logging onto the network, only about thirty, and there are no mission critical applications (well yet, I got a MySQL server planned!). What I would...

mailbox. Is this doable with sieve?
Thanks.

[LLVMdev] RFC: Constant Creation API
...have contexts, all of
the constant subclasses could be friended to LLVMContext, and then put
the work of uniquing by accessing the context off of the type.
There are obviously some pros and to both approaches. Going back to
the old-style increases compatibility with 2.5, and breaks up the
massive LLVMContext class. On the downside, it would cause massive
thrashing on TOT, because I will have to revert about two weeks worth
of commits in widely dispersed parts of the tree, and because a number
of clients have already switched to the new TOT API.
Any comments and/or opinions on this...

help with simple but massive data transformation
...do the transformation BUT I need to do this
on very large datasets (millions of rows). Does anyone know of an R package
that has a function that can do this transformation?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks!

There is a possibility that you may have shot yourself in the foot.
Is 'DOMAIN.COM' your companies dns domain ?
Or is actually something like 'AD.DOMAIN.COM' ?
Whatever, your dns admins shouldn...

Massive DNS queries to _kerberos._tcp.dc._msdcs.DOMAIN, COM.
Hi All,
Our DNS admins are complaining about a massive number of DNS queries to :
SRV? _kerberos._tcp.dc._msdcs.DOMAIN,COM.
This is happening on thousands of systems. I see that every time the query is done, winbind updates /var/run/samba/smb_krb5/krb5.conf.DOMAIN (Ubuntu location).
I found adding "create krb5 conf = no" stops the DNS que...

concatenating lists elementwise
Hi
How do I concatenate two lists element-by-element?
Example:
list.1 <- list(temperature=c("hot","cold") , size=c("big","medium"))
list.2 <- list(temperature=c("lukewarm") , size=c("massive","tiny"))
list.wanted <- list(temperature=c("hot","cold","lukewarm") ,
size=c("big","medium","massive","tiny"))
(the lists are dimnames() of an array).

Logging successful log-ins
Hi all,
Due to a security breach at my office recently, we need to log
successful / failed log-ins.? I've put in "log level = 3" in smb.conf on
our active directory domain controller which seems to log what we need,
however this is generating massive log files, due to it logging every
file opening/closing by all users.? How do I log successful/failed
log-ins without having to generate massive files?? Would it be possible
to output just the successful/failed log-ins into its own log file?
Many thanks for help in advance!
Regards - Piers

[LLVMdev] LLVM-GCC Back
...er is no. It is not late enough. llvm-gcc failed to build as a

And even if the mirror was promptly updated at 2am, it wouldn't have
mattered. The mirror got fatally out of sync with llvm less than an
hour later. There are still massive errors building llvm-gcc.
And the Visual Studio build is massively broken too. I don't have time
to fix it today.

massive performance problems if transferring many small files
Hi,
If I try to transfer about 27.000 small HTML-Files from my Windows-PC to our
central SAMBA-Server I'll get massive performance problems. First the
performance looks ok but after a time period of 3 minutes it goes slow down -
appr. one file per second will be transferred. Has anyone an idea what I can tune
to avoid this annoying behaviour.
My samba server configuration:
- OS: Solaris 8
- /etc/system:
