How about a mascot for R?
R users,
How come R doesn't have a mascot? Linux has one and so does LaTeX, so shouldn't R? I personally think that associating a "friendly face" with R would be a good thing for R (one letter names can be quite intimidating).
I apologize if this is addressed in the FAQ. I searched the FAQ as well as the mailing list archive...

As a FreeBSD developer, I take no offense in this logo and find it very
beautiful in fact :-) Beside being the Linux mascot, I think Tux often
represents Free Software in people minds. Of course some users will
think that Nouveau is specific to Linux when they see this logo, but the
day we work on porting the driver, it's our job to communicate the fact
that it works on FreeBSD too.

anyone else) use the great LLVM logo they designed for WWDC. If
you're interested, you can see the full version of the logo on this

I personally think that this is a pretty great logo/mascot for LLVM,
because it is very abstract, can be adapted in a variety of ways, is
alpha channeled correctly, and probably looks great on shirts/mouse
pads. If nothing else, it seems a lot more compelling than a
wildebeest jumping out of an egg ;-)

6.0 with wine release 20010824. Trying to start iexplore.exe goes along
until:
