Worked examples?
I've been experimenting with Samba a bit. I won't claim to know a whole lot about it, because I don't, and I'm even somewhat of a newbie when it comes to Linux/UNIX. But I've been working with the worked examples that the HOW TO docs describe on the website, configuring my smb.conf file as is stated. I'm running Samba 3.0.14a-2 on Fedora Core 4, and I'm running into a

(OT) Does pearson correlation assume bivariate normality of the data?
...rgent opinions. From what I understand there are two aspects to this classical parametric procedure: 1. Estimating the magnitude of the correlation: - the sample data should come from a bivariate normal distribution (?cor, ?cor.test, Dalgaard 2003, somewhat implied in many examples such as ?rrcov::maryo or Wilcox 2005) - the sample data should be (I presume univariate) normal (Crawley 2007) - the sample data can be of any distribution (if I understand correctly the `distribution-free' definition of correlation in Huber 1981, 2004) - the sample data could come from just about any bivariate dist...

ozone data
Hi just a quick inquiry Sorry if this is too trivial but I am just a beginner in R. I am looking at the plyr package and I am intrigued at how data(i.e. ozone, baseball) is loaded without having to type data(ozone). Are they automatically loaded when i call library(plyr)? I want to do the same thing when I make my package. How does one accomplish this? Also, are there any beginner guides on how

Hi I have posted this message twice already I really need to know if this can be done with samba and winbind. Please can anyone help? I have a Redhat 8 server running samba 2.2.8a and have configured samba to use winbind so that I can control access to the samba file shares using user and group accounts that have been set up in our windows NT domain. This all works fine on the shares I set up
