[PATCH] Better detection for ioloop and notify
...hed is a patch to configure.in to test that epoll, poll, inotify, kqueue and dnotify actually work. It also attempts to select the best one for you if none specified. This supercedes my previous patch in the re beta9 thread. Hopefully get this in Gentoo's beta9 ebuild soon. Perf difference between Windows mapped drive and UNC share accessing Samba share?
...ce? could there be an obvious configuration problem in Samba or Windows which could cause this (i.e. authentication?). my guess is that using a mapped drive pre-authenticates the connection, while going via UNC share does not. thanks for the help, Kirk -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Kirk Marple Chief Software Architect, VP of Engineering Agnostic Media, Inc. e: kirk@agnostic-media.com w: www.agnostic-media.com <http://www.agnostic-media.com/> blog: http://sqljunkies.com/WebLog/kmarple You can get my Digital ID here: <https://digitalid.verisign.com/services/client/index.html&gt...

802.1q on gentoo
Hi, I have a box with XEN enabled. Specs : Gentoo 10.0 AMD64 XEN 4.0.0 The server is connected on our network through two physicals NIC. Actually, I''m using a VLAN on each NIC and bridge the domU in it. But now I must create an additional domU which should be in an different VLAN. The best solution is to set a trunk on the switch and use 802.1q directly on the dom0. I found this site

Problem setting ACLs on files/folders... plz help!
I'm running Samba on a Mac OS X server, and the server is a member of a Windows domain (Windows 2003). Samba is setup for security=domain permissions. I have opened up a file share to the Windows machines named AppDeployment. I'm able to open \\xserve\AppDeployment on a Windows server, and am able to create directories and copy files in there. (Btw, when i attempt to "net

[PATCH] Compile cleaning against OpenLDAP 2.3.x
Hi List Looks like OpenLDAP 2.3 doesn't define LDAP_DEPRECATED [1] anymore which causes a few warnings in Gentoo [2]. Attached is a patch that re-defines this so that dovecot can continue using simple functions like ldap_bind(). Thanks Roy [1] http://www.mail-archive.com/openldap-devel at openldap.org/msg00487.html [2] http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162437 -------------- next

How to access Samba file share from Windows w/o requiring guest logon?
I've attached an Apple XServe to our Windows domain, and have successfully setup all the Active Directory integration. I've been able to expose a file share to Windows via Samba from the XServe, but it's still requring a guest account login. For example, when i try and open <file://\\xserve\AppStorage> \\xserve\AppStorage from the Windows Explorer, it shows a username/pwd
