residual plots for lmer in lme4 package
Hi,
I was wondering if I might be able to ask some advice about doing residual
plots for the lmer function in the lme4 package.
Our group's aim is to find if the expression staining of a particular gene
in a sample (or "core") is related to the pathology of the core.
To do this, we used the lmer function to perform a logistic mixed model
below. I apologise in advance

question on boot
Hello there:
Dear Dr. Murdoch,
I'm a statistician at Princess Margaret Hospital. Could you please help
me with the bootstrapping?
Can boot function (along with boot.ci) handle multivariate statistics?
My intention is that I want to group the outcome data and evaluate the
proportion of patients who are positive for a marker within each group.
(i.e. I have two variables, a predictor and

Question
Hello.
I would be very grateful if you could help me in using R.
I need R commands of pseudo random value and qvazi (quazi) random value.
I found commands "qnorm" and "pnorm", but I am not sure that this is the
same as I am looking for.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you

Roaming Profile not found - replacement PDC
Howdy everyone:
Here's an interesting one:
I have joined a machine to the domain, and I log on. Then, I get a
message to the effect that the user's roaming profile couldn't be
[loaded or found?], and a local profile will be used instead (and
actually this also fails, but is not the point of my question... I don't
think).

lmer error:flist must be a non-empty list
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice regarding using the lmer
command in lme4 package to do logistic regression (mixed effects model).
I use the following command
lmer(ISH ~ArrayPathology2, random=~1|PatientID, data=HSDB4.noNA,
family="binomial")
where ISH is outcome(0 or 1), ArrayPathology2 is the variable of
interest(factor), PatientID is random effect(factor), and

help with file
Hi,
I am new at R, and I need some help with some basic stuff.
I want to do clustering of data. It works perfectly, but now I want to
export my file form R to my Linux directory. The problem is that the file
is generated only with the cluster numbers, but it does not carry over the
identifiers. Let me show you what I did :

RData file
Hi all,
I just quit R Version 1.1.0 in the usual q() manner which resulted in a
fatal error, which seems to have wiped out all my RData file.
Now when I try to load up R it gives the message
Error: restore file corrupted -- no data loaded
Fatal error : unable to restore saved data
(remove .RData or increase memory)
How do I access the RData or what do I increase the memory size to to

pch and curve plotting
Hi all,
I'm having two small problems and was wondering if you could help me
out.
Problem 1:
When I use pch to place a symbol onto a plot it seems to place the point
a little off the exact location. I have read the help file for this
which says to use "." as the plotting character, which will then produce
centered points but I am unclear as to how to do this.
Problem 2: How do I

SID problems?
I?ve upgraded from Samba 2 to version 3, and am having some problems. I think they?re related to SIDs, which I?ve not really been aware of before!
Currently I only have the Samba server which is acting as PDC for Win XP Pro machines. My smb.conf looks like:

Clean install of RedHat 7.3, including samba - unable to connect to port 139
I did a clean install of Redhat 7.3 on a system. The install
included samba, samba-client, samba-common. I moved the saved
versions of smb.conf, smbusers and swbpasswd to /etc/samba. Then I
started up smb by issuing "/etc/init.d/smb start" I have set smb to
start upon reboot of the system. I have rebooted the system
several times. smbd and nmbd start up, but clients cannot
