BDRB, new version questions
Hi,
we are trying to use BDRB for background processing of long-running
reports, and have two issues - one is that worker does not see our
Report class from Rails, throws a:
/var/apps/ror_trunk/vendor/plugins/backgroundrb/server/master_worker.rb:22:in
`load'': undefined class/module Report (ArgumentError)

Using --keep-dirlinks : recursive symlinks problem
...a feature, or make it a default to ignore
recursive dirlinks under --keep-dirlinks? Highly doubt this behaviour
would ever be called for :)
Or please kick me in the right direction for a workaround which would
make --keep-dirlinks consider sane symlinks only.
thanks for your time,

problem with worker status
Hi,
I have a page were users can start jobs that may take several hours to
run. BackgrounDrb is perfect for me and seems to be working well most of
the time but some times I have the following problem:
My worker is set up like this:
class UploadWorker < BackgrounDRb::MetaWorker
set_worker_name :upload_worker
set_no_auto_load(true)
def create(args = nil )
file = args[:file]

Two Rails Apps, One Backgroundrb Server?
This might be a really simple question, with a simple solution. I
have two rails apps running on the same box. Right now I am starting
two Backgroundrb servers (11006 and 11007). Wondering if it might be
possible to run only one and have the second app point to the first
app''s server?
TIA,
Kit

BackgrounDRb release 1.0 available now
Hi Folks,
I am glad to announce 1.0 release of BackgrounDRb.
This would be a major release since 0.2 release of BackgrounDRb.
Here is a brief summary of changes:
- BackgrounDRb is DRb no longer. It makes use of EventDriven network
programming library packet ( http://packet.googlecode.com ).
- Since we moved to packet, many nasty thread issues, result hash
corruption issues are totally

querying status of worker with job_key
Hi,
Is it possible to start a worker with job_key and then ask_status of that
specific worker with the job_key?
MiddleMan.ask_work(:worker => :auth_worker, :job_key=>''1'',
:worker_method => :auth)
and then
MiddleMan.ask_status(:worker => :auth_worker, :job_key=>''1'')

rsync version 2.6.3pre1 protocol version 28
Hi,
this is possibly a bug report (I'm not sure if this is a feature). It's
related to the --keep-dirlinks option, when combined with --delete .
I have the following directory structure on server A:
ls -lR software
software:
