Issue installing Centos server on Vmware Fusion/Server
...server and it skips directly to the default desktop install and doesn't give me the option to run the linux server. I am not sure if you've seen this earlier. I've tried with Centos 5.8 and 6.0 but the installer seems to work in that manner . Thoughts around how to fix this ? Thanks Mamu

SAMBA Groups and Permissions
hi i have a user ~# id test_user uid=500,gid=500 (users),groups (users, kids) as you can see, this user is in primary group "users" and also member of group "kids" if he tries to access /home/board via smb (Samba 3.0 + openldap) from a windows client (XP), he fails, because his sambaPrimaryGroupSID maps to -> "users" and /home/board is not accessible for

PC loosing domain membership frequently
Hi, I'm new to this list. I tried to google and did a _bit_ of searching in teh archive but didn't find anything related to my problem. I use samba 2.2.8a as the PDC on SuSE-linux 8.0. I administrate 7 Rooms with 160 PC, mainly w2k-sp3 and some older with NT4-sp6. In two of seven rooms some PC loose their Domain-membership. I can bring them back into Domain, but they seem to loose it after

Weird problem with mixed up id's
Several users get sometimes the wrong profile. I have one example here: The user bfs1a-15 logs in. The batch file is created, transfered to the client and executed. Among others there is a line saying: net use p: /home The user gets an error, saying "the password for \\fileserver\fg13z-15 is wrong, type in the for \\fileserver\fg13z-15:" (translated from german). I know from the past

protocol error with OpenLDAP, v3
I sort of succesfully installed samba2.2.5 with OpenLDAP 2.0.26 as a PDC on one machine. Alas the performance is very poor. Authentication process takes 10 Seconds pser, noticable one or two seconds per "net use d:" in the logon script. The process which consumes all CPU cycles is slap. I tried to tune with some h help of openLDAP mailinglist members (indices, nscd), but i didn't
