Switch back to mount after fallback
...;mount>

Where gast.ogg is the main stream. When gast.ogg comes back it should
switch back from offline.ogg to gast.ogg.

Web application to feed icecast
...o on. Most of the web radios have
developed the web application by itself (i guess so).
I'm not able to develope such a piece of work by myself. I only
broadcast music to my LAN. Do anyone of you know such a web application,
available for the public?
Thanks and kind regards,
Claus

Population pyramids
Hi, I hope somebody can help me with this issue: I am doing population pyramids using the barplot command, so in the left side I have male age structure and in the right side the female age structure. To plot the male age structure I put the data in negative numbers. Now, I want to change the sign in the bar plot in such way that I have no-sign numbers, both in left and right side of the graph. I

Switch back to mount after fallback
...now I'm interested in switching back to gast.ogg when it comes back
again. I've seen that I can move clients from one mount point to the
other by using the web-interface. But I want it done automatically.
Is that possible by any way?
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Claus

...eed other mount-specific stuff like different passwords, etc.
Nevertheless, it should work as you desire. Is there anything in your error
log when you reconnect your main stream that might explain why the listeners
aren't being moved?
Geoff.

Regressions with fixed-effect in R
Hi there,
Maybe people who know both R and econometrics will be able to answer
my questions.
I want to run panel regressions in R with fixed-effect. I know two
ways to do it.
First, I can include factor(grouping_variable) in my regression equation.
Second, I plan to subtract group mean from my variables and run OLS
panel regression with function lm().
I plan to do it with the second way because

apply loop - using/providing a data frame to loop over
Hi,
I want to extract individual names from a single string that contains all
names. My problem is not the extraction itself, but the looping over the
extraction start and end points, which I try to realize with apply.
#Say, I have a string with names.

Poythress ML, Rattanathikun P, Mueller G")

grep with search terms defined by a variable
Hi, I have a good grasp of grep() and gsub() for finding and extracting
character strings. However, I cannot figure out how to use a search term
that is stored in a variable when the search string is more complex.
#Say I have a string, and want to know whether the last name "Jannings" is
in the string. This is done by
names=c("Emil Jannings")
grep("Emil",names)

That's what fallback-override is meant to do. Are you saying that it's not
working for you?

Precision of summary() when summarizing variables in a data frame
Hi,
I summary() a variable with 409908 numeric observations. The variable is
part of a data.frame. The problem is that the min and max returned by
summary() do not equal the ones returned by min() and max(). Does anybody
know why that is?

Latent class analysis, selection of the number of classes
Hi,
I perform latent class analysis on a matrix of dichotomous variables to
create an indicator of class/category membership for each observation. I
would like to know whether there is a function that selects the best fit in
terms of number of classes/categories.
Currently, I am doing this with the lca() function of the e1071 package.
This function requires me to specify the number of classes

loops and simulation
I dare the conjecture that if you had written the code, you would know how to
do this. This suggests that you are asking us to do your homework, which is
not the purpose of this list. A simple inclusion of the code in a for or
while loop and storing the estimated parameters with the index of the
iteration at which the loop is at should be no problem if you have
programmed the code you provided.

OLS standard errors
Hi,
the standard errors of the coefficients in two regressions that I computed

the source of this difference? The coefficient estimates are the same, but
the standard errors differ.

Plotting MDS (multidimensional scaling)
Hi,
I just encountered what I thought was strange behavior in MDS. However, it
turned out that the mistake was mine. The lesson learned from my mistake is
that one should plot on a square pane when plotting results of an MDS. Not
doing so can be very misleading. Follow the example of an equilateral
triangle below to see what I mean. I hope this helps others to avoid this
kind of headache.
