DNS Registration
I have a few Samba 3.0.14a servers nicely running with ADS security and winbind on Debian Sarge. The one problem I seem to have is their DNS registration with our WIN2K3 name servers that I have no access to. I see that most WIN2K/XP/03 register automatically (DDNS) or manually with the command ipconfig /registerdns. I can probably ask for records to be manually entered but I thought I would

...2.4 was installed)and I never had such a problem. Now suddenly this error message appears and it concerns only the survival package (I mean for simple plots there is no problem to plot lines in an existing plot). Is there a problem with R 2.6 on this matter? Can someone please help? Thank you, Makis

Samba, NT4 and W2K trust/authentication problem.
Hi all, Set-up: Local NT4-RESOURCE domain which the Samba server is a member off. One NT4-ADMIN domain with users accounts and one W2K domain with some other user accounts. A one way trust from NT4-ADMIN to NT4-RESOURCE and a one way trust from W2K to NT4-RESOURCE. Samba version 2.0.7 running on Solaris 2.6. According to the NT admins, the W2K domain is in native mode, but they still use

FW: setting quota per user
...cute: edquota -p bob `awk -F: '$3 > 499 {print $1}' /etc/passwd` </Snap> PS: I would advise you install samba 2.2.0 (the latest stable), however if you have to go with the 2.0.x version, use 2.0.8 instead (as it includes a security fix that is not there in 2.0.7). Is there a way to prevent this on the Samba servers or is it evan a valid issue? Thanks Mike

"Broadcasting" Calls?
Hey Everybody: Asterisk is really cool, first off! I'm impressed! Anyway, I'm working on a design project funded in part by the National Science Foundation, and part of the project requires a system that callers can call in, and talk to other "teams". That part is easy with Asterisk. The hard part is this: the system must also allow one to call the system and talk to all

System password to login to SWAT
Hi! I'm running a Samba server at a University Department. I'd like to let my users change their "Samba password" through SWAT. So i've done a few hacks in swat.c Nothing much, essentialy i've adapted the interface and removed the other stuff. I don't have password sync between Samba and the system, because i want to let my users have separate passwords. Well...

ADS Join and Insufficient Access
...set up a test samba server using 3.0.20b, the new krb5.conf and smb.conf. kinit works fine. ("Authenticated to Kerberos v5") I prestage the server by adding it to my OU with rights to add it to the domain as I have always done. When I go to add it to the domain with net ads join -U mmaki@NEW.DOMAIN.NET and enter my password I get ads_add_machine_acct: Host account for smbtest already exists - modifying old account (which is normal for prestaged machines) ads_join_realm: ads_add_machine_acct failed (smbtest): Insufficient access ads_join_realm: Insufficient access I hav...

PC side gives me the error "computer not found" message. I move the S99samba to /etc/rc3.d and see no messages during the boot up. "ps ..." output is same

Credentials Error
Hi folks. I've set up several shares on our Unix host 'Geddon' which have all been working fine. The shares have all had the same valid user who I set-up using smbpasswd. I then set-up a second user (devsrc) in smbpasswd and made the new user the sole valid user of one of the shares (data1). Whenever I try to access this share the following Windows NT error occurs. I was wondering

Member Server in Active Directory
I'm trying to join a Samba 3.0.4 (compiled from source on Debian) to an Active Directory as a member server. I believe Kerberos is configured correctly as kinit creates a ticket for the realm. Executables appear to have support for Kerberos and LDAP (smbd -b | grep KRB and grep LDAP) return OK. When I try to join the AD with net ads join -U myadminusername I'm prompted for my
