Moving a computer from a down domain to a new domain
...o a workgroup called
SELF. I then reboot and use the same dialog to join the new domain,
HOME. The old domain was HDA, but a prior domain was also HOME. This
fails and in the samba logs I see:

Problem using samba with ldap
...ith the command
smbldap-useradd -a -P -c "toto DUPONT" -u 1001 toto and to log in with it
after.
I obtain this error :

User Administrator in passdb, but getpwnam() fails when trying to add XP machine to smb/ldap domain

added administrator to ldap
when I try to add the computer using the settings in XP, when prompted with username and password I use the administrator and password set preveiosly.
this results in failure and log reports:

BDC and ldap set-up problem

add domain users to the /etc/passwd file. At the moment users can
authenticate onto the domain but once they try and access a share on
the BDC, these XP users get a dialogue box asking for a login. The log
for the machine reads:

Weird behaviour of one Win7 user
...samba 3.5.6 running on a Debian squeeze machine. This box is running
since more than a year without any problems.
Since a couple of days we have the following problem.
One Win7 user doesn't get his user profile any more
The log file tells:

step 2 - samba-3 PDC & BDC fail-over with 2 LDAP servers fails

But it gets tricky when I shut the first LDAP server in line down (on PDC

vampire account migration (3.026)
Hello,
Using vampire to migrate accounts from an NT box and found that machine
names were not created.
Creating account: IT-NT$
Could not create posix account info for 'IT-NT$'
Creating account: PDC$
Could not create posix account info for 'PDC$'

And seemingly random user accounts were also not created.
Can I make another pass with vampire to retrieve the missed

Cannot log in to domain
