Help!!!! Gettting samba core dumps
I transferred a Xen vm that was running on centos 5.7 with samba 3.6.3 to

been running Centos for 6 years on different servers for 6 years on several
different upgrades.
This new server has a dual network card in it. I have samba 3.6.3 on it and

smbmount from fstab
I've seen several references to running smbmount from /etc/fstab, but I've
never seen an example. Does anyone have an example fstab entry that does this?
Thanks

Routes dependent on subdomain
Hi,
I''m having little problem getting my idea to work, would be very
thankful if you could help me.
I have one Ruby on Rails application sitting on server, and multiple
subdomains, pointing to the same server/app. For example:
mainserver.com
user1.mainserver.com
user2.mainserver.com
I want to have exactly the same app and exactly the same routes on
all, except that I want to map root

PROBLEM WITH PRINTERS.
Hi people, I have a print server using Debian, LPRNG and SAMBA working
without any problems. Now I 'm trying to set up a new server with
CentOS 6, CUPS and SAMBA.
It 's a very simple setup: a few local users and a few printers,
nothing special. The clients also map the printer using 'net use lpt1
\\mainserver\printerX' because they need to print over an old DOS
application.

Can't get logon script option working with PDC
Environment: Samba 3.0.6 on FC2 as PDC (replacing an NT 4.0 PDC)
Windows 98/ME/2K/XP desktops on the domain
I can't seem to get "logon script" to function. My [netlogon] share
exists, the batch file is there, and if I manually run
\\MAINSERVER\netlogon\logon.bat, it runs just fine. However, it doesn't
run on login.
I set "log level" to 3 and poked through the

Samba 3 PDC & BDC Servers
I'm not sure what the configurations of the Primary and Backup servers
should be to enable them to operate as a domain across a WAN. The original
server has been running for some time as the master server, but now I am
adding a second (backup) server at the remote site. The global section of
the original server is:

samba not logging windows user names
Hi,
Is it possible that samba logs the windows username of the person that
is connecting to a share. On many shares I use 'force user = testuser'.
In the log I only see the messages "connect to service test as user
testuser". This gives me only the username smbd should become.
I also tried logging to a file which contains '%U' but this give me very

Windows caching Netbios names ??
Hello,
we have a setup with a main samba server an an emergency server which
synchronizes its data via rsync. Recently, I got the idea to run the
emergency server under a different server name parallel to the main
server so that users can easily recover deleted files etc. This lead to
massive problems; the reason was that the clients randomly connected to
the main or the backup server !

Printing with errors ...
Hi people, the following bug makes some error messages to appear al log
level 0 when they are supposed to be al level 3.
Any guy at the printer team could tell if I am safe printing with all those
messages and why they are generated? Only a few computers are affected in
my network.

Attaching to Netware-Server
Dear listmembers,
recently our sysadmin turned off the support for ipx-protocol. Since then I
found no way to mount my home-directory on the net (novell) on my linux box.
Using ipx, I had had the same servername etc) I found a lot of discussions
about the way vice versa, but no FM I could R to manage around this issue
(i.e. mounting a Netware volume on a linux box).
Anybody out there having an

Domain with public shares
I have a samba server setup with security = user (NT-domain). I use
openldap for authentiation and that part is working fine. People can log in
and see the files they have permission to.
I need to have some public folders on the samba server that anybody can use
(also non domain users (ie. WinXP Home users that can't join a domain)).
And the printers should be public in the same way.

Hello:
I've been looking forward to getting my mail server up to Dovecot 2.2+ to be able to use the sync mechanism. I run my own mail server just for myself, with a few different accounts, and want to keep a master and backup server in sync.
I'm running the Ubuntu server 14.04.1 mail stack which features Dovecot 2.2.9 (and Postfix). My setup is to use system users (userdb passwd /

server I have a 1/2 terabyte raid 1 I have split between the 4 members that

NT printing problem
I've got Samba 2.0.3 running on my Linux box.
Marvin is the samba server. Bugs is the NT box.
Attached is the relevant part of my smb.conf file. I removed several parts
from what's attached to save bandwidth. What you see is simply the part
that pertains to my printer.
I can't print to the DeskJet printer. The printer appears in my network
neighborhood, but I just can't get
