namespaces, shared mailboxes
Hi! I'd like to provide shared mailboxes with maildir that should appear like 'Shared/<mailboxname>' to the clients. Using the namespace configuration below, everything works fine, exept one thing: Mail clients (only tested with Thunderbird) won't allow to put mails directly in 'Shared/mailboxname' (the folder it is greyed out). You currently have to create subfolders and put...

FETCH for mailbox mailboxname UID #1 got too little data: #2 vs #3
I got it with multiple imaptest instances even with current dovecot-1.1 hg tree. I checked the emails with that UIDs and they are actually truncated. Some things I noted on these mails: - they are all with MIME multipart attachments. - the last multipart attachment is truncated - the truncated last line is not complete - the following line is the beginning of a new mail (From line) without any

shared mailboxes using namespaces in 1.2
...se I am mixing maildir and mbox namespaces and list=yes. The details: I am using a post-login script (attached) that detects all subfolders of /var/spool/mail/Shared for which the current user has at least read access. For every subfolder, it creates a separate namespace with the prefix Shared/<mailboxname>. The shared mailbox trees are in maildir format. If one of those namespace-prefixes is e.g. "Shared/sharedmailbox/", I am able to create "Shared/sharedmailbox/test" but trying to create "Shared/sharedmailbox/test/testsub" will fail with the above error. If I set t...

BlackBerry will not setup my POP3 email, all other mail clients fine
...erver, of course), to no avail. Yet, any of these accounts still work flawlessly in any desktop mail client (Outlook, OE, Thunderbird, iPad, iPhone, etc). Also, any of these BlackBerrys work flawlessly with any other mail server. The username to log in to these mailboxes is not standard, it's mailboxname+ example.com if the email address is mailboxname at example.com and the mail server is mail.example.com. So, I know I have to access the "Advanced Settings" in BlackBerry email setup in order to put this username in. Still, no effect. So, there is something wrong with how mail SETUP work...

Dsync from multiple IMAPs -- personal/local dovecot setup
...from subject I'm looking for a *personal* *standalone* dovecot setup, especially I'm looking for a DSync from multiple IMAP accounts to a local maildir (to being compatible with notmuch). My actual mail setup is: OfflineIMAP that sync different mailboxes in a personal taxonomy ~/mail/$mailboxName/... and notmuch-emacs + various scripts as MUA. Local postfix just to avoid emacs freeze during send, muchsync to support It does work but is slow, buggy and sometime complicated to kept up to date (I have many homegrow spaghetti-code scripts and snippets in zsh, elisp, python etc stratified i...

NOTIFY: bug on mailbox renaming and deletion ?
Hello, Testing the NOTIFY extension on imap.vivaldi.net, seems there's a bug when a mailbox is renamed or deleted. Requesting events with: A1 NOTIFY SET (inboxes (SubscriptionChange MailboxName)) Here are the sent events: - mailbox creation with automatic subscription (ok): * LIST () "." foo * LIST (\Subscribed) "." foo - mailbox renaming (bug ?): * LIST () "." bar ("OLDNAME" (foo)) * LIST (\Subscribed) "." bar * LIST () "."...

Bug] Sieve vacation :addresses match only,>, case-sensitive?
...e all users on lowercase names, but that is not and has not always been the case. at least in every large installation LDAP User Backend's (or AD or similar) are used, and they are definitly case insensitive for the CN or UID attributes. Really nobody who cares about his systems and users uses mailboxnames which just differ in case (too much danger of confusion!) At least sieve must reflect the same settings as the MDA, so if the MDA is set to downcase (which in my opionion is the only valuable setting) sieve must also downcase. maildir / deliver question
Hi all, I have the following situation: On a qmail toaster I am running (with dovecot 1.2.12 as the IMAP server), spam mail gets automatically put into a 'this might be spam' folder (per user). Now, every user has the opportunity to move that mail into either a 'learn as spam' or a 'this was ham' folder and the mail items will be treated accordingly. As a cronjob, I run

...th a basic setup (high performance login mode, Maildir, everyhing on NFS, one shared but unused namespace). No problem so far except that some Thunderbird users who wouldn't succeed in moving messages from some one folder to another. They'd get a message about some illegal character in the mailboxname (already existing mailbox of course). This is user input so I don't have any details nor sufficient element to consider it a real problem. A Thunderbird restart seems to solve the problem. My questions were : . is there a different handling in the hierarchy separator (internal or advert...

IMAP NOTIFY extension
...#39;ve so far noticed: - NOTIFY is handled currently only for non-selected mailboxes. (handling the new features for selected mailbox should be simple) - initial STATUS sending isn't done with STATUS option - only MessageNew, MessageExpunge and FlagChange notifications are sent currently - MailboxName handling probably needs to be able to get "old" and "new" views, figure out what changed in them and send those changes (dsync has similar code) - mailbox list indexes seem to be adding too much stuff, which results in: - STATUS duplicates, but there should already be code to...

IMAP NOTIFY extension
your work on NOTIFY was brought to my attention, and I see it hasn't been changed in two months, a week after you announced it. a few users and some mail admins have been wanting something like this for k9 mail, which I help develop. what is the current status? is it worth installing and starting work in getting k9 to support it yet? I'd offer help on your end, but I just know java and

restoring mails and directories

It is set to Maildir and I backup the folder with the users maildata nightly via rsync. now, when someone deletes a mail that they still need, and I copy it back from the backup, it will not be visible to mail clients. Using procmail to mark messages as read in dovecot
So, I use procmail extensively, and I have for a long time, but marking messages as 'read' in a Maildir has always been a little wonky: TRAP='mv "$LASTFOLDER" "${LASTFOLDER}:2,S"' Since I've switched to dovecot, is there a way to mark a message on delivery as read or not new or seen? -- Clarke's Law: Sufficiently advanced technology is
