dovecot-imap displays empty domainalias mailboxen
Hi folks, I'm using dovecot 1.0.13 as the IMAPS frontend for a vpopmail/qmail virtual domain setup. Dovecot is set up as follows: passdb vpopmail{ } userdb vpopmail{ } I've added a domain alias for the main domain with vaddaliasdomain and email to post at aliasdomain is delivered to post at maindomain and can be checked with pop. However, when I try to check IMAP through the account post

Dovecot LDA, virtual users, multiple uids: No luck
Hi, I'm trying to get Dovecot's deliver to create and use mailboxen with one uid per user. Reading the wiki, I decided to go with the sudo attempt, but I'm stuck because deliver fails to create the intermediate directories. The auth.log has this on the matter: sudo: dovelda : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/var/spool/postfix ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/lib/dovecot/deliver...

Maildirsize automatically (re)build
...s is my query: password_query = SELECT username as user, username as userdb_user, passwd as password, 1001 as userdb_uid, 1001 as userdb_gid, concat('maildir:storage=', quota, 'M:ignore=Spam\ e\-mail') AS userdb_quotarule, 'Trash:storage=20M' as userdb_quota_rule2 FROM mailboxen WHERE username = '%n' Also in the main config I use: mail_plugins: quota imap_quota plugin: quota: maildir So I use maildir:storage in my config. However when I delete the maildirsize (for testing purposes) it doesn't get automatically recreated? According to the Wiki it should r...

newbie: problem with IMAPS + mutt + Thunderbird
...making mutt flag all my new mail as 'O' ("old") which was flagged 'N' ("new") before. If I remember which the new mails were, I can flag them as 'N' in mutt, and they get moved to .../new again, but this isn't usually the case because my mailboxen are often large (> 10.000 messages), and it's undone as soon as I access the mailbox with Thunderbird (over IMAPS). I also have a wish list. Both Mutt and Dovecot (can) make use of index files to speed mail access. It would be great if this could be unified so that both programs use...

mdbox compression
I was wondering if I should add compression support to mdbox one mail at a time or one file (~2MB) at a time. The tradeoffs are: * one mail at a time allows quickly seeking to wanted mail inside the file, but it can't compress mails as well * one file at a time compresses better, but seeking is slow because it can only be done by uncompressing all the data until the wanted offset is reached

1.2.10: namespaces and still no luck
Hi, I'm trying to set Dovecot up in a way that is compatible with console usage of the same mailboxes (ie, w/o IMAP). My mailboxen are almost all maildirs (I can ignore all other formats), and are laid out as follows: INBOX = ~/Maildir All other folders are maildirs in ~/Mail Eg. ~/Mail/archive, ~/Mail/sent, ~/Mail/some-mailing-list I configured this, along the lines of http://wiki.dovecot.org/Namespaces: # I unset '...

dovecot produces messages dupes after nfs problems
...go I had trouble with my NFS-Server (high delays) which caused dovecot lmtp to deliver the same message several times (up to 10x). I recognized some old/unused .nfsXXXX files in the maildirs which seemed to be index files. I deleted them and everything was fine again. However, there are still 2-3 mailboxen where mails (old and new ones) are delivered multiple times. All duplicates have no "received from" headers. Seperate lmtp log shows only one delivery. Any hint or advice what might be wrong? Regards Patrick # 2.2.2: /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 x86_...

Multiple program instances or multiple log ins?
This all comes out of figuring out how I might run Evolution like I run Eudora. I see where Evolution places its data in a hidden directory: ~/.evolution Now why it is felt necessary to put all of this stuff in hidden directories is beyond me. So it would seem that Evolution is treating each useid as a personality for the logged in user. Given the way Evolution organizes its data, I could
