How to stop mail_executable from cwd to ~home
In our environment home directories are auto-mounted via /home/<user>
including on the server provided mail.
Within the various mail services though we try to isolate
and override with local /mail/home/<user>
Works well except that dovecot still wants to cd to the real home
triggering a useless and potentially hindering automount
when it invokes the imap or pop3 process specified by

dovecot -n output of (default) is confusing me
Hello,
I'm new to dovecot and I've been taking my time examining what makes dovecot work. If I have imap and pop3 listed as protocols, dovecot -n outputs:
mail_executable(default): /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap
mail_executable(imap): /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap
mail_executable(pop3): /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/pop3
I don't understand why imap is listed twice once as

mail_executable's process environment
Hello,
I recently had to get Dovecot 1.1.4 to write to a "pop3/imap-before-
smtp" db such that my MTA could permit relay after a successful
authentication with Dovecot.
The 'pop3' and 'imap' processes are executed only after a successful
auth, so replacing them with wrappers which write to the db seemed the
natural choice. Lo and behold, someone thought of

Problem with managesieve (and virtual users?)
Hello,
I use the debian packages from http://xi.rename-it.nl/debian/
version 1.1.7-0~auto+17
If I put a sieve script into /home/vmail/sieve-scripts/test.de/test.sieve
it is used, so cmusieve works.
But if I activate managesieve I get in the log:

Hi,
I just installed dovecot 1.1.11 and am having some issues. Mail appears to

cgroup support
Hi,
I am setting up a system that enforces cgroup restrictions when a user logs in via SSH, and for all the services that are run by a particular user.
I am also running dovecot to give users IMAP/POP access to their mailboxes. However, to be part of a cgroup, PIDs must be explicitly added to the cgroup tasks file. So for now, all my processes are run with resource restrictions, except for

Dovecot Migration: Retrieving/Logging POP/IMAP Passwords in Plaintext
Hi List
I'm currently in the process of migrating my dovecot imap/pop users to a
new server and have to extract their passwords in order to import them into
the new system (different password encryption schemes).
I've tried enabling auth_* debug parameters in my dovecot.conf in the hope
that this would result in logging plaintext passwords to the dovecot log.
However dovecot does not log

Anybody can help me with this issue. It's the right place to submit thios
question, please help me.
Actually we have configured a server (postfix, dovecot, mysql) with multiple
domains, but the problem resides in that we don't want to login via POP3
using "user at domain" just using "user", because we'll migrate our actual
platform (Qmail) to dovecot. Our users are
