Samba and Window 2003
I am trying to find a good how-to on setting up samba to use Windows 2003
for authentication, if anyone knows of a good link let me know. I am using
RedHat ES 3 and our Windows is running in native mode with NT style
authentication allowed. I cant use ADS and Kerberos because the current
version of Kerberos on my RH server is 1.2.7 and from what I have read I
need 1.3+ in order for it to work

Voicemail/Directory, one person, one box, two last names
So one of my employees just got married and is taking her husband's
last name. As soon as her business cards run out she will be using
the new last name for business as well. So for example is there a way
to make it so that if someone goes to the directory to find her
extension and they dial DOE it matches her or if they type SMI it
matches her. Alternatively, can I make a new voicemail

Also(sorry for all the questions :), when we upgrade, is it just a case

boot device
Hi,
I am trying to create a guest machine on xen virtualized environment and
install rhel on it by booting from cdrom.
I face a issue in booting device. I gave boot order as hd,cdrom. When doing
maiden installation, it will find nothing in hard disk and boots from cd.
Once installation is completed and when it boots next time it boots from
hard disk. It is the expected behaviour.
But it fails to boot from hard disk and again boots from cdrom.
I also tried specifying per boot device option. I sp...

Problem over VPN
Hi all,
Samba 3.0.14, Debian Sarge. I've asked on IRC but didn't get a response.
I am having problems dragging files to my Samba share in Windows XP, over
an IPSEC VPN. The file in question is a simple small text file. I have
no problem directly creating and editing a file on the share.
Here's the log:

I''m sure this is an easy one; all the same, I''m stumped. Please bear with me as it''s my maiden voyage, both with Puppet and Ruby.
We''d like to manage some Apache servers with Puppet. To dip my toe in, I thought I''d try reproducing the example on this page of the docs:

as.data.frame(cbind()) transforming numeric to factor?
Dear List,
why does as.data.frame(cbind()) transform numeric variables to
factors, once one of the other variablesused is a character vector?
#
x.1 <- rnorm(10)
x.2 <- c(rep("Test",10))
Foo <- as.data.frame(cbind(x.1))
is.factor(Foo$x.1)
Foo <- as.data.frame(cbind(x.1,x.2))
is.factor(Foo$x.1)
#
I assume there is a good reason for this, can somebody explain? Thanks.

Since it's an ldap backend do the groups need to have unix counterparts?
Should I use the net groupmap command to add the mappings or should I

quiet will be brought up to the level of all the rest. For casual
listening, or in a noisy background, this can be a good thing. For
serious listening, it would be a nuisance. You don't want a solo flute
track blasting at the same loudness as Iron Maiden!
To solve this problem, the "Audiophile" setting represents the ideal
listening gain for each track. ReplayGain can have a good guess at
this too, by reading the entire CD, and calculating a single gain
adjustment for the whole disc. This works because quiet tracks then

[PATCH] Modpost section mismatch fix
[Sorry if duplicate, one earlier was corrupt]
Hi,
I got section mismatches reported by modpost in latest build. It got
reported for xen_register_pirq and xen_unplug_emulated_devices
functions. xen_register_pirq makes reference to
acpi_sci_override_gsi in init.data section; marking
xen_register_pirq with __init is not feasible since calls are made
to it from
