Warned about these "three little maids"...
Greetings all:
Newcomer to R as I work on learning it to transfer my college classroom
stats training to something more useful and accurate then that spreadsheet
from Redmond which shall remain nameless.
I'm running v2.6.2 on a Win XP Home system that I keep up to date with all
the called for patches. Haven't added much to the basic install other than
the bits and bobs needed to run

Changing a value in a particular row and column within a text file
Dear list,
I need to change a value within a particular line of a plain text file
with characters and numbers, and I haven't found any way of doing this
by using R.
What I have a is a file that doesn't have tabular data (so, I think
that 'read.table' or 'read.delim' are not the right tools for this),
but some text, and I now exactly the row that has to be modified and

[LLVMdev] Does someone still keep eye on MC ARM EHABI?
...stion on this effort? I'm very appreciated!
There are several directions here:
1. Binary emission. Right now MC layer is text-only and depends on assembler
2. Correctness issues. It's believed that unwinding information
emitted is more of less correct (though no extensible verification was
maid, iirc)
3. Figure out what's wrong with EH data emission. Some clue is in PR7187

[LLVMdev] Does someone still keep eye on MC ARM EHABI?
Dear all,
AFAIK, ARM EHABI is not ready for both asm and obj emitter.
Some people including me what to implement them.
My question is, to avoid duplicate effort,
does someone take charge of this part? or
does anyone is already implementing this currently?
BTW, any suggestion on this effort? I'm very appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Samba 3 and W2K3 AD intergration problems
...W2K Ad intergrating working in production
without any problems.
I have set up a test domain to test W2K3 and Samba3 on a Red Hat 8
server.
I did the following:
* Have set up the NTP Daemon to synchronize time with the W2K3 domain
controller.
* installed the latest Kerberos packages for Red Hat 8, maid sure that
krb5-workstation is installed.
* installed the samba 3 rpm's from www.samba.org
* configurered the smb.conf like this
[global]
workgroup = TEST
realm = TEST.CORP
server string =
security = ADS
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 50
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=...

BoundsChecking Pass
...e detects the stack access and crash the
program (you can see the checks on the assembly code which are followed by
a conditional jump on a UD2 instruction that basically crash a program) but
nothing is instrumented for the heap access. On the BoundsChecking file it
is said that run-time checks are maid but I don't see them. So my questions
are:
- are there any heap checking made?
- if yes, where are they?
I am interested in this because I think I am going to try to do the same
work made on the stack to the heap.
Thank you for your help, any information or advice is welcome :)

btrfs RAID1 woes and tiered storage
...SSDs)

SSDs)
* ability to differentiate between often written, often read and infrequently
accessed data (and based on this information, ability to move this data to
fast SSDs, slow SSDs, fast RAID, slow RAID or MAID)
While the first two are rather straight-forward, the third one needs some
explanation. I think that for this to work, we should save not only the time
of last access to file and last change time but also few past values (I think
that at least 8 to 16 ctimes and atimes are necessary but this wi...

Planning "hotel" phone system - Need input
Ok, I'm working on an implementation of Asterisk to service approximately 50
fractional (read: timeshare) residences. Basically what I'm starting with is a
hotel phone system, but with additional functionality that Asterisk can
provide. From the end user's perspective, I want the exact same functionality
as the Telco provides (Caller ID, visual message waiting, etc) with a few

I need storage server advice
Hi:
I need advice on implementing a storage server. I really do not have
the $ to spend for a Dell iSCSI storage divice and I am thinking
trunning CentOS 5.x with ftp or FreeNAS. Here is what I am looking at
and concerned about.
Situation:
My current storage needs are approximately 1.5 TB annually. This will
increase to about 3.5 TB annually over the next 5 years (rough est.).

Hotel Setup?
I am working with a small inn (under 50 rooms) that is next to a ski
resort. The inn just had Cat5e Homeruns to each room installed, with a
patch panel in the basement. Now it's my job to connect each of the
those rooms to the Internet. I think I have a Cisco switch that I can
do Private VLANS with, however I thought of another solution.
Has anybody seen or does anybody know of a VoIP

Yager on ZFS
Not sure if it''s been posted yet, my email is currently down...

Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows
solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing
comment:
"If you haven''t checked out ZFS yet, do, because it will eventually
become ubiquitously implemented
