Asterisk Failover without SER
Hello all, I first want to thank everyone for all your contributions.
I've building an asterisk system for a month or so now and without
everyone in the online asterisk community I wouldn't have made it this
far yet. Thanks! ...ok, mushiness out of the way.. :)
I am looking for a failover and ultimately a load balancing asterisk
solution. I've done a good bit of research and I

How to restrict simultaneous phone registrations
Hello all,
I am looking for a way to restrict users from logging in two separate
phones with the same authorization name/password at the same time.
Meaning, I only want users to be able to place a call from one phone in
one location, but have the ability to move from computer to computer.
Has anyone found any sort of solution for this type scenario?
Thanks,
Bryan Mahin

Touch tone recognition issues
I'm experiencing touch tone recognition issues when calling some outside
phone systems. For instance, if I call my Nextel phone, and try to press
* to enter my voicemail, Nextel's system does not "hear" the DTMF tone.
I've also experienced other outside phone systems for which I am unable
to use their touch tone menus. Oddly, this isn't the case with all
outside systems.

corssbow and virtualbox issues..
...:63
VirtualBox machines are using bridged neworking, connecting to one of the virtual vnic2.
vnic2 is plumbed on the host machine, it has assigned IP and it''s up. Additionally I run ipnat
on my host machine (elsinore) for the VirtualBox machines. This all works brilliantly, my virutal mahines
can access the network, can see my host machine, can see each other.
vnic2 is using 192.168.112.254/24
Zone (called web) is using vnic1. vnic1 is configured to use 192.168.112.253.
I can access zone from my host machine, zone can access the network, but with one distinction.

ssh-keygen with libpkcs11.so can't work
...bpkcs11.so: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory
cannot read public key from pkcs11
I searched on my ubuntu server but found no libpkcs11.so. Also, I searched
online, and didn't find too much help.
Do I need to download the source of pkcs11, then compile and install on my
mahine? If yes, where could I get the source.
Or I misunderstood the new feature, and it should not be used in this way?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Seifer

You need to specify the path to your token PKCS#11, instead of
specifying the CA key in the file system, the token based key is used.
If you don't have a smart card, you shou...

Write security over Samba share?
I have RedHat 7.2 Workstation that is using Samba to attach to a RedHat 6.0 Server share. I have inserted the following entry in /etc/rc.d/rc.local on the workstation:
mount -t smbfs //office/Shared /mnt/shared -o username=xxxx,password=xxxx
Access is fine, but I am unable to write to the share. I have Chmod-ed, Chown-ed and Chgrp-ed the share so that it is completely available with no

filenames with ":"
I have been reading everything I can to figure out how to get SAMBA to accept a filename with a ":" in the name.
I am running Gallery on my FREEBSD mahine that using SAMBA to connect to the windows machine. Gallery generates
filenames with a : in the name
Example : 1023493:239434.0. When you try to create a file with a : you get the following error:
$ touch 1:2
touch: 1:2: No such file or directory
I am currently running Samba 2.2.8.

Future support for cross-building for Windows
...as been pointed out that now we have build services such as Uwe's
win-builder and RForge, there are easy ways to get a (checked) Windows
binary of a finished R package, and it is nowadays more common to have
things like a Windows Terminal Server to provide remote desktop access
to a Windows mahine, or virtual machines running Windows as a guest
OS.
If the need is only to cross-build packages, it would probably be
easier to do so within the Unix package install system, effectively as
another sub-architecture.
So this posting is an opportunity for users to make a _case_

a question about popen() performance on domU
Dear all,
When I compared the performance of some application on both a Xen domU and a standard linux machine
(where domU runs on a similar physical mahine), I notice the application runs faster on the domU
than on the physical machine. Instrumenting the application code shows the application spends more
time on popen() calls on domU than on the physical machine. I wonder if xenlinux does some special
modification of the popen code to improve its...

machine name lookups
We have been looking for a way to notify our users when they
are running low on disk quota, without sending them mail.
WinPopup actually seemed like the best way, so my partner
began looking at feeding quota output into smbclient -M
when quota was getting tight.
The only problem is that smbclient -M frequently fails to find
the client's host name. The -I parameter will often fix it, but
I am

RE: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 21, Issue 130
Have you thought about making them agents, they would both be reachable by dialing there agent number then, and I know only one agent can be logged in at once. Just a thought.

Using R to illustrate the Central Limit Theorem
Dear All
I am totally new to R and I would like to know whether R is able and
appropriate to illustrate to my students the Central Limit Theorem,
using for instance 100 independent variables with uniform distribution
and showing that their sum is a variable with an approximated normal
distribution.
Thanks in advance,
