Hello, I am new to Samba. I run FreeBSD 2.2.5-stable and Version 1.9.17p4. I would like my FreeBSD server to act as a DOMAIN Logon. And, for example if user riso logges in (using his FreeBSD box password) his /home/riso should be automatically maped to G: or something. The error message I get is: "You have entered an incorrect password, or access to your logon server has been denied."

I have successfully kickstarted 3.4 x86_64, but after updating my repo to 3.5 I see a kernel panic when it loads vmlinuz. Funny thing is that I had one box that would kernel panic while trying to install centos-3.4-x86_64, which then would install fine after updating to 3.5, but now my other mahcines will not kickstart. --

...it's running great. Except for one thing, and I'm not sure if this is a Samba problem or a problem with my machines. What the problems appears is that when I'm copying or moving images (jpegs, bmps are the only two I've tried so far) from both my laptop and my desktop (both Win2k mahcines), the images copy fine, but there's also two additional files created. One of them contains some sort of binary data in it, the other is a zero byte file. They both start out with the same name is the image, then there's a : and a bunch of characters following it, followed by a :$DATA....

Hi, I am using Samba 3.0.10 PDC with LDAP as password DB. Before we use smbpasswd as passwd DB and every time I need to add a machine account into /etc/passwd so that the mahcine can join the domain. My understanding for LDAP is, this step is not needed any more since we will put all machine account into "ou=Computers". But I am proved to be wrong. Is this the way Samba works? I mean, samba has to make sure a machine account exist in the /etc/passwd file of...

...when it shows the printer, it shows access denied, unable to connect. When I try to print a test page to it, nothing happens and the Windows box is completely unhelpful. I'm trying to set up Samba 3.0.20-4-SUSE on a opensuse 10 machine. I'm working with XP Pro on the client machine. I can't get the XP mahcine (RDS7) to join the domain (UCD).
